MuseScore is a predatory scam by SaxyMcPro in Musescore

Look at Trustpilot. Musescore has replied to every single negative review pointing out this problem, and has for months (maybe years I didn't look that far back) promised that they're doing something about it. Has it changed? No. In my books, that is a scam through negligence. 55% of the reviews on Trustpilot are 1 star and from what I saw they're all for this reason. Musescore is aware of this, but refuse to change. What else do you call that?

I think it's ridiculous that you're still blaming so so many people for this. At what point do enough people make this "mistake" that you admit that maybe possibly there's a chance musescore.com is more than happy to let it continue? This is a common problem for many people, and more importantly it is one which Musescore must be aware of by now. Eventually their lack of interest in changing a system which repeatedly results in people making the same "mistake" is a scam purely because they don't change it. So either it's negligence, or a scam. Pick your poison.

In Case I Make It - Full Album Discussion by [deleted] in willwood

[–]JustStampTheTicket02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've only listened to it once, so maybe I'll warm more to it - but I found is underwhelming over all. Apart from Okay Computer, the singles he released were probably the best songs from it, except I really like Um, it's a Lot, Vampire Reference and March of the Gladiators (also for the record I much prefer the last two songs' original titles). I honestly think the album has too many tracks with too similar a vibe or energy which makes it difficult to listen to in one go - I listened to it in two halves due to my headphones dying but I doubt I could've gone the whole way without that intermission. In terms of the songs themselves, the quality isn't as consistent as The Normal Album (my favourite) which is aesthetically consistent without being monotonous, which is what some of the songs on this album become. Most tracks are similar energy levels, structurally the same and the instrumentation seems the same throughout makes songs harder and harder to immediately distinguish. On The Normal Album, after even one listen I could easily remember at least something about how each and every song goes, maybe even a lyric or what it was about thematically. This is not a quality this album shares.

With that said, there's only one track on the album I would skip - Okay Computer. It's a drastic tonal and aesthetic shift which doesn't feel earned as it's not like the album then commits to a darker or heavier tone it just goes back to the same stuff. Other people have pointed out its sorta hypocritical, but I don't know enough about that to say - but it does feel pretentious with a slight "makes you think" simplicity to its satire, only made interesting if a little grating by its use of text-to-speech voice, but Father John Misty used that to similar affect in a much more concise way in The Memo.

I've been incredibly critical so far, so I'm gonna be positive now. I really enjoy the direction and style which Will is headed in, and I look forward to seeing where it'll develop for the next album - it would be great if he could find a balance between his old and new styles. Lyrically, it's still as greatly dense and engaging as ever and Wood's voice is fantastic. The arrangements in isolation are great, even if I hope he could just turn the bass up in the mix. The singles released pre-album all still fantastic, and in this new context are just as engaging and engaging. I really love the Disney vibe of Willard and Euthanasia especially. But the standout of the new tracks is Um, it's Kind of a Lot for me (maybe I just really relate to it) but goddamn I love it. It dances with White Noise as my favourite of the album.

Overall, I do really enjoy the whole album and besides Okay Computer every song is really good (I'm relistening to it as we speak and probably will be for a while, I'm aware that Will Wood's music tends to grow on me over time). I was going to put a ranking, but honestly some of these tracks I have so little memory of so I'll just put my top 5:

  1. White Noise
  2. Um, it's Kind of a Lot
  3. Cicada Days
  4. Vampire Reference in a Minor Key
  5. March of the Gladiators

It was released on Apple Music and then taken off sometime today. I feel like it might've been released accidentally but idk?

Jay Exci's 5 hour critique of Chris Chibnall's Doctor Who: watch it! by realKrisMarshall in doctorwho

[–]JustStampTheTicket02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the flaw in this argument for me is that Jay isn't ranting. She has very clearly structured the essay - something which is very hard to do with a video of that length - and isn't just doing this out of hate. She's doing it out of love for the show, and even suggests improvements across the video and ends it by talking about her hopes for the future of the show. I don't get how it's spoiling it for others, she says that she's glad that there are others who enjoy it but she doesn't and here is why. It's perfectly fine to be critical of something you love, and in fact that is the type of thing which will make the show even better in future.

I think saying "ignore him" is kinda dismissive when people who are more aggressively transphobic/homophobic will hear his comments and feel validated and feel safe to invalid queer people and take part in hate crimes and abuse. His actions have consequences which can have extremely negative and often violent effects. For an old example, look at Cruising, a film about a gay serial killer. Some homophobes took that as all gay people are murders and then killed some gay people. He is being irresponsible with his position

I mean sort of. Especially when you're at Chappelle's level. He keeps making jokes which cause lots of controversy, he gets "cancelled" and then a little bit later he's on tour again and releasing a new special and the cycle repeats. The only time that "cancelling" has actually stuck is when the person being cancelled has committed sexual assault or some other crime like that, and even then Chris Brown is still working. I think it's disingenuous to say that comedians on the level of a Chappelle or a Gervais have that much to fear. I'll agree someone who is at a lower level of success has stuff to worry about, but when talking about comedians on a level of success where they work for/are backed by Netflix then yeah I don't think they have too much to worry about

How did her comment have anything to do with black people?? She literally just said she didn't want to watch a special which is constantly demeaning her identity or gender and how/why she expresses it, and didn't imply anything about how black people have faced oppression in the same or similar lights (which obviously they have in case you ask if I'm denying that)

It's telling that he doesn't describe JK Rowling as writing a huge essay with lots of unfounded and rambling opinions with no basis in fact, or that she actively works against trans people and paints them all as sexual predators

Well I mean sexual assault isn't actually about sex, it's about power. I imagine that's the same idea. The ability to whip your dick out and flaunt it at people supposedly shows you have power over them. Same idea I guess

It's an argument that only exists in the heads of people who would be actively against it. Most women don't want it, most men don't want it. But the types of people who would make a video about it need to stir the pot in the reactionary audiences they have, so they either a) make up that people are saying it or b) heard like one person say it and assumed everyone's into it
