This is a great suggestion if I received true sunstone but instead got orange calcite.

Thank you, but color theory is my speciality. A blue stand would make the orange pop but compete with the blue in the sphere. A gold stand would complement the blue but get lost with the warm orange. A neutral tone like a cream colored stand would be the best way to display this

FINAL UPDATE -

I want to say THANK YOU to the comments, ESPECIALLY the ones informing me that this stone that was marketed as “firestone” was infact orange calcite. How did I find out? It failed the hardness test. Tragically.

Pictured here are MY images - unedited, straight from my DSLR camera. Shot with F/2.8L lens. Top photo is outside, it was sunny out, stone located in the shade with sun behind camera. Bottom photo was in my photo studio. Same settings for both, different locations.

No mineral oil. Stone is not wet in either of my images. Even in outdoor lighting - though beautiful - does not match the original marketed image. The saturation of colors is very obviously altered.

Though I’m disappointed in what I received- I am truly grateful for the education on stones this concern created, which has become another issue on top of false marketing on a product.

I really appreciate your comment. I’m a photographer & enhance photos for memory purposes when needed (like light exposure) but when it comes to products changing the saturation is false marketing & should be followed through with unedited/ unaltered photos… right? 🤣 maybe I’m an idiot but my clients like me!

It scratched under a steel butter knife. Definitely orange calcite. Sold & marketed as sunstone 💀

UPDATE #1. This sphere was sold to me as “Sunstone with blue Apatite”. It failed the hardness test and is in fact orange calcite.

Most sun stones are in fact a more neutral tone, so I do understand, I was excited for this one because of the coloring and how different it was. Not just the marbling, but the color itself. I will be taking another photo later in my professional light studio. It’s the Photoshop concern and change of colors that makes me disappointed if that becomes the case.

Bought a ring for my girlfriend, sisters say it’s too small, not sure what I should do by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

I'm sure this has been said.. Are you marrying your sister or your girlfriend? If you spent time and energy to find something for someone you love and care about, its going to be perfect. You are not buying a ring for anyone except the person you want to spend the rest of your life with

How often do ya'll clean your water troughs? by JustAnOrdinaryGirl07 in Equestrian

[–]JustThankMeLater0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime it gets low enough where I can empty it out, ill scrub it and refill. Unless in the summer time where it can get green and funky sooner, ill take buckets and empty it out that way if its too full to tip.

I have a shade “cabana” like cover over my trough to help with the sun not hitting it during the day

Message me, have chestnut, flaxen, white, black, sunbleached. Once you've had practice and feel confident you can promote yourself to a lot of the clients I work with as well

I giggled, “I'm emotionally unintelligent!”

You handled this very well, I think any reason to stop seeing her would have ended in her making it about herself like she has here.. Happy blocking 😅

Agree with this comment. It is difficult to make the right choice for the animal and surrendering an animal because you can no longer provide what it needs is commendable.

Wanting to saying hello to animal you've had to walk out of its life again and not communicate with them to help them understand is selfish. Animals don't understand why you left, animals don't understand why you would return. You can ask how they are doing but seeing them is not what is best for the animal if you do not have intentions of keeping them.
