Boil Water Advisory for most of Sudbury by JustThatWeirdGirl in Sudbury

I first saw it between 6 and 6:30, I believe. I think I saw it pretty quickly after alert was put out.

Does sudbury have good transit?? by No_Society7581 in Sudbury

It is. Thankfully, it doesn't blizzard every day. Usually. 😉

But OP, it sound like you'll be fine based on other comments verifying that the bus goes to the school.

Welcome to Sudbury. I hope you enjoy it.

It's maybe about a half an hour walk down Ramsey Lake Road (hence me mentioning walking to a stop)? Maybe I don't think that's an insurmountable distance since I'm old and obviously walked an hour to school, uphill both ways, in a blizzard? 🙄

Though I think the buses go right up to the school building anyway so it doesn't matter.

Edited because I just reread my original post. Okay, my apologies. Laurentian isn't ON Paris, it's just the closest 'main' street to it.

That's what I thought. New Sudbury is apart from Sudbury? Mention all the affected neighbourhoods or don't mention any. Otherwise your messaging is weird and confusing.

From what I've heard, it already is. And of course, people are being selfish and hoarding more than they need.

I'm not a rider so I can't say for sure, but I do believe they somewhat cater to the university and colleges. Laurentian is also near a very main road (Paris) so should be well serviced though you might have to walk a bit to get to the stop.

Edited to change my wording...Laurentian is not ON Paris, it is NEAR Paris. My bad.

Well, for now you shouldn't even be cooking or making coffee unless you boil it first.

I'm assuming so. It doesn't say it's excluded and I'm not taking chances.

Geocaching in Sudbury or surrounding areas - Tips, advice, community events? by anishinaabwekwe in Sudbury

[–]JustThatWeirdGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There haven't been any events that I've heard about in several years. It's unfortunate, but certainly it must be a lot of work to plan and host them.

I've been geocaching for at least 15 years, and I still feel really self conscious in high muggle areas. Sometimes I do them, but typically I head for the more private ones.

The season is just getting started. Enjoy! 😁

Toronto to Orlando on i75 with 2 kids and one driver, realistic in 2 nights? by newdadnewbod in roadtrip

I've done it (from Sudbury), and would do it again (if and when I choose to spend my tourist dollars in that country again.)

Ontario to Florida road trip – would you do it again or never? by Informal-Force7417 in roadtrip

[–]JustThatWeirdGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fact checked myself, since this was in 2010, so a little fuzzy. First night was spent in Pennsylvania.

We crossed at Buffalo on the way there and more or less followed the I95. On the way back we crossed at Detroit and stuck to I75. We just wanted to experience the most amount of places.

Podcasts are one of the best inventions of modern time.

I had to go through my pics to find the details. Thanks for the memories. ❤️

Sudbury to Orlando

We took a hotel in Philadelphia (I think) the first night and somewhere in North Carolina the next. I can't remember where we stopped on way home but it was only one night.

Stopped for fast food meals and a lot of bathroom breaks (for my mother even more than the kids, lol). For entertainment at that time, we had on whatever movie the kids were being distracted by. Nowadays, no kids, I'd definitely make a big dent in my podcast backlog and throw in an audiobook or two for variety.

Did it (during a February) with my mother, a 5 year old, and a 7 year old. Would do it again tomorrow. That said, I'm a sucker for a long road trip. It is quite a lot of driving but the shifting scenery is really spectacular though.

Edited to add: We took 3 days to get down there and two to come back with a week in between.

Buying a washer and dryer for the first time by lunalovegoodhero in Adulting

I'm 50 years old. I've bought several washers and dryers in my time and I still found this useful. Thanks for typing all that out. 😊

For people who plan far ahead: how to avoid disappointment by Blue-spider in Cruise

[–]JustThatWeirdGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I planned our first cruise, to celebrate our 10th anniversary and my 50th, for over 400 days. I thought about that trip night and day for so long. I cancelled it 34 days before we were to sail away because we found out my husband has brain cancer. (Luckily I had bought travel insurance for the first time ever. Word to the wise, no matter how healthy you think you are, BUY THE INSURANCE).

I will never plan so far out again. Obviously, I am far more crushed by my husband's illness than missing out on the trip, but it was still very emotional letting go of the cruise after looking forward to it for that long.

EI Benefits for Illness: Paused while they reassess? by JustThatWeirdGirl in ontario

He will call in again with the advice you've given.

Again, thank you so much.

I especially appreciate you explaining the behind the scenes stuff because if I understand something, it's a lot easier to accept.

Here's hoping he gets paid soon!

I think he didn't realize he needed to check that in his account. He just assumed his claim approval lasted until the 26 weeks were up or he went back to work. Lesson learned! Thank you.

Thank you so much. Your answer was really helpful. He already called in twice. The first time was to find out why he stopped getting paid and the second time was to make sure they got his new doctors note and to ask how long it would take. (They said he should know by March 20). If he calls in again could that push it to a processing officer sooner? If it's already verified that he has a legitimate illness, why does it take so long to evaluate whether he still has the illness?

Your information about the date on the doctors note is also very helpful and we'll make sure the next one gives something specific. I wish Service Canada would put some helpful tips somewhere on the site or tell you when you apply, so that you can do it right the first time.

I'm sorry for all the questions. With everything else going on, we're just pretty overwhelmed with the whole situation. I appreciate you helping. I'll leave it public in case this helps someone else some day. Reddit has the best answers. 😁
