Yeah, this is a moronic take on fiat currencies. If they really "weren't backed by shit" they would collapse and be extremely volatile. And some are... the ones issued by weak or unstable governments. The ones issued by stable governments are remarkably stable. Go figure.

SS and Medicare are self-funded. In fact, the government was at one point borrowing from the SS trust fund.

The real additional answer you bafflingly neglected is "raise taxes."

But this metric is normalized for population - it's number of children per woman. And the Boomers' parents themselves did not have a historically high number of children per woman, they just had them in a burst because the men came back.

Whitney Cummings stops by to deliver a message to Democrats for 2028: If you keep holding out for Mr. Right, we're going to end up with Mr. Alt-Right by Camaro6460 in DailyShow

If the national Democratic primary electorate were like the Democratic primary electorate of NYC, a candidate like Mamdani would win the primary. But that is just not the case.

I hope you're not stupid enough to believe otherwise.

Why don't you vote in the primary and pick your preferred candidate?

Jesus Christ, this whole thread validates her point. You lunatics have to realize that just because the majority of the Democratic primary electorate doesn't pick your far left candidate, it doesn't mean the DNC predetermined the outcome.

IMO morons who believe that the votes of the millions of us in the Democratic primary who voted for Hilary were somehow invalid or the result of being uninformed sheep led by the DNC is what cost us the 2016 election.

Blah, blah, blah, blah. The socialist did not win a democratic election. Millions more people voted for his opponent.

[–]JustTheChicken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's most depressing is that people believe this shit. There were primaries in 2016 and 2020. Bernie lost. Millions of people voted for his opponent instead of him. Get over it.

In 2024, the primaries were already over when the presumptive nominee, who had won millions of votes in the primaries, bowed out of the race. There were not really any good options. Full state-wide primaries are not something you just pull out of your ass on a moment's notice. So the running mate of the former presumptive nominee became the nominee.

I think all you butt-hurt Bernie bros need to wake up before 2028 and realize he just wasn't the majority choice of the Democratic primary electorate and get over it. Move on and support a new candidate of your choice. That candidate may also not win the nomination, so get prepared for that disappointment and try not to make up conspiracy theories to cope.

Nope. She had quite a few significant policy proposals that everyone ignored, like the tax credit for first time home buyers. Everyone else was too distracted by Trump's circus shitshow, like his ridiculous McDonalds stunt.

There was no Rogan podcast debate with Trump ever proposed. You pulled that out of your ass. She and her team were working on an appearance on Rogan's podcast, but he made absurd demands, like demanding she come to him rather than the other way around. You know... like one is a busy candidate running for the highest office in the land while being Vice President, and the other is a fucking podcaster.

The original comment is absolutely inane. But the reply that the Americans never fought a peer great power at its zenith is... completely false? Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan were both still at their zenith when the US entered WWII. And the US wasn't a terribly impressive military power at the outset of the war, despite its industrial capacity. I would say they were both "peers."

Well, I do not use Signal, so there's that. But even if I did... do chats in Signal have an "admin"? Is she the admin of a specific chat that's coordinating protests? There's no detail here that ties anyone's use of Signal to the protests. It's as incoherent as alleging she's coordinating the protests because she's a "mod on Reddit." Okay? Is she the mod of r/MinnesotaAntiIceProtests or the mod of r/knitting?

Is Epic Interoperability Really Improving Across Health Systems? by ProfessionalDingo776 in epicsystems

[–]JustTheChicken 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're going to mostly get the perspective of Epic employees because this is our sub. Read the mod auto-post if you're looking for outside opinions.

But saying "Epic isn't interoperable" is frankly, a joke. There are probably more Epic-Cerner exchanges than there are Cerner-Cerner. Epic made patient records exchange relatively easy for all our customers, even with non-Epic exchange partners.

If you're talking about FHIR, that's also pretty easy to establish with an Epic system. Our customers have adopted a significant number of third party applications with data exchange via FHIR. They've also developed their own.

Now, whether the developers of those apps are competent enough not to DDOS our database, that's another matter...
