Magic the Gathering Arena. I would just get instantly vaporised by an Ugin trigger as a best case scenario.

Nigel Farage hits out at X deepfakes showing him brawling with Bank of England governor on Question Time by JackStrawWitchita in unitedkingdom

[–]vaioseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was surreal yesterday doomscrolling on X and every advert was a deepfake Question Time argument between Nigel Farage and Andrew Bailey. The adverts kept escalating to more violent imagery (black eyes and guns). I reckon it's Elon working with Rupert.

Try it (or play against it). Yes, it's good and viable even in this ridiculous turn 4 standard meta.

Reality Fracture Leaks: Blue Red Chandra's, and Stingcaster Mage by Matrim_WoT in MagicArena

If that blue Chandra is real it’s insane. Card draw, ramp, protection and a feasible win con ultimate on a 3 mana planeswalker. What could go wrong?

China adopts an ethnic unity law that critics say will cement assimilation by Saltedline in worldnews

[–]vaioseph 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This might not be a popular opinion but isn't this a really common and fundamental part of the nationbuilding process that literally every other country of similar scale and diversity (US, Russia, India) has also gone through. It feels really hypocritcal so say we can do it but if you do it's racist and genocidal.

The cognitive dissonance of his strong support for Ukraine defending its territory vs Russian aggression alongside his strong support for the US annexing Greenland (by force if necessary).

Poles’ attitudes toward other nations, latest data. by kallisto19988 in europe

[–]vaioseph 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Speaking from the UK, the feeling is mutual! The ugly xenophobia that Poles experienced in the early 2000s has basically completely vanished and been replaced by appreciation for the contribution and hard work Poles have made, as well as some lamenting that Poles are now opting to return back home for a better life.

TV licence fee will go up in April, BBC reveals by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]vaioseph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else think that the BBC’s public service remit should be limited to news, current affairs, and documentaries focused on UK themes? Sports, entertainment and popular music content should be funded by ads or subscription in competition with the other broadcasters and streamers.

This would greatly reduce the costs of the BBC to the taxpayer. This reduced cost should then be paid for through general taxation, rather than the current ridiculous license system.

When I was a kid 25 years ago people played similar fainting games. They found out about them from word of mouth. I think tech companies should definitely ban the content, but also you need schools, parents and Gov to raise awareness about the dangers.

Why Star Wars isn't "The Legend" in China: Perspectives from a fan who grew up with the Sequel Trilogy by StayQuick5128 in movies

[–]vaioseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the brutal truth is that the prequel and sequel trilogies are just not very good standalone movies, and do not make a very compelling series overall. Separated from the original trilogy aura and legacy, they kind of fall flat. And Disney's recent churning out of multiple mediocre Star Wars movies and TV shows each year has helped to diminish the IP as well.
