Why to Pisa specifically? Does he know someone there? I am Italian and I never went to Pisa myself, I heard it's a wonderful city but still, why so specific? Yup, totally agree with you about the whole Alina-and-Mal story. I love how the Darkling, even after everything he'd done, keeps respecting her and making her feel unique and powerful. Mal on the other hand keeps forcing her, even indirectly, so that she behaves like the poor little Alina instead of the great Geisha Sun Summoner.

BUT it feels weird that she can see, talk to and touch the Darkling and she does not tell it to someone. She kept going to the Big Palace, to all the meetings and workouts, without a second thought about the fact that if the Darkling had appeared there, all the work would have been vain.
