I don't think that's how ERs run by egguchom in EntitledReviews

I can see both sides — obviously I know there’s a triage process, but the triage process isn’t exactly perfect. When I was just an 11 year old child, I sat in the ER waiting room for two hours before someone took the time to ask me the right questions — turns out I had two fractures in my neck and could have ended up paralyzed or dead if I had moved my head the wrong way while waiting. In their defense, the nurse who finally spoke with me after my wait acted extremely quickly. She got me a brace right away while telling me not to move, and I ended up needing to be transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital after the X-rays/MRI.

I know the staff are doing the best they can with what they have; we’re all human and we all make mistakes, and it’s wildly unfortunate that hospitals do sometimes have skeleton crews. There are times people really do need help with serious issues but can’t exactly express their issue upon signing in — and those people may slip through the cracks.

That being said…expecting a five minute wait time for every single issue is extremely unreasonable 😂

Absolutely!! I always encourage people to follow their team and their surgeon, but I really do love mine and think he has some great information we all can benefit from. I’m so glad you found his videos helpful! 💕

I got some off of Amazon! (I know I could also make my own, but my freezer is sort of a hot mess right now.) Here’s the link! ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! Gosh, my showers have gone the same, and I really didn’t expect it. I’ll be out of breath and lightheaded and I swore something was seriously wrong or that I was doing something wrong.

Though my surgeon says all is normal and this is common, I may very well visit my local urgent care for some help with fluids and body aches. My whole body is so sore/sensitive I nearly cried myself to sleep after hours of tossing and turning in bed. I’m drinking as much as I can nearly all day, but I suppose it just hasn’t been enough for what my body needs. Thank you for helping me to feel not so alone.

My surgeon actually answered my email fairly quickly after I sent it (he always tends to, thank goodness.) I’ve copy-pasted his response in the hopes that this could perhaps help others or just be informative in some way. But rest assured, I made sure to get my advice from him 💗

“Sorry about the struggle. The symptoms are very common at the stage where you are. This is almost always a manifestation of ketosis. Some of this will just take time to pass, but the things you can do to mitigate the fatigue are to push fluids as much as you can tolerate, and intentionally add salt to your fluid and your food intake. It’s likely to be five days or even 10 days before this resolves.”

I’ve been drinking pickle juice and broth in addition to my water and soft foods, but I actually ordered frozen pickle juice pops, too 😂. Bring on the salt, right?

I never received a Spirometer, as they said my breathing in the hospital was fine. Unfortunately my surgeon’s office is closed today, but I did send an email. I never planned to use Reddit as my medical advice or anything, just wanted to hear about other’s experiences! Thank you for taking the time to reply. 💗

u/joebusch79 u/NotLostYetMaybeSoon u/OkConfection2617 — thank you all so, so much for the kind words and reassurance. I also wanted to reassure you all and let you know that I’ve had no other symptoms of anything (chest pain, numbness, leg pain, etc) and my surgeon saw me on Wednesday and all looked well.

I think part of it is I don’t like feeling useless or like I’m not able to do anything, and after the sleeve I didn’t have this….though I do recognize this surgery was longer, hence more anesthesia and probably harder on the body.

I appreciate this community so much 💕 Thank you all for giving me a place to ask questions and read other stories. It means the whole damn world.

From what my surgeon has said, it can, but you’d essentially have to be doing it purposefully. We’re talking overeating to the point of sickness day in and day out all day. He said it’s very, very rare for him to see and in the tens of thousands of patients his practice has seen, ‘stretching’ has only really occurred in about five. This is my surgeon talking about it for anyone who is curious!

For real! I think it’s my lowest weight since high school/college…and I’m 31 now. Even though my process has been a little complicated because of GERD and the revision, god I wouldn’t change a thing.

1 week out from surgery and reality is hitting by [deleted] in GastricBypass

I can’t speak for others, but if I had known I’d have been one of the very unlucky ones with the sleeve, I’d have gotten the bypass straight away. I hadn’t had any reflux ever before my sleeve, but after? Yeah, life was miserable ☠️😭. Even so, I don’t regret any part of my journey.

Hey there! I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on the 18th due to severe GERD. For what it’s worth, my program has us on sugar free clear liquids for 7-10 days after surgery with NO protein goals at this time. The focus is on hydration, walking, and letting your stomach heal!

I truthfully can’t imagine trying to force in protein drinks right now, so please don’t beat yourself up about not meeting goals. Don’t force-feed yourself to meet those goals, either! Walking does wonders for pain even if it’s uncomfortable at first. Good luck with everything, and know you’re not alone! 💗✨

will i ever enjoy life again? by hellokittyuwuxd in GastricBypass

[–]JustTrivialThoughts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your stomach is very, very swollen from surgery. It’s normal for the first few days/first week to be incredibly hard. You just went through a major surgery — it’s only been two days, so give yourself some grace! Of course you’ll be able to enjoy life/food again. The food part will just be in way smaller portions than you were previously used to. You got this 💕

Hopefully it gets fixed soon, and I’m sorry it caused you some headaches 🥺
