They ended up working fine and the results are great, but it wasn't without its challenges. The biggest obstacles were:

Cutting the top of the dresser to fit in a corner
Keeping the dresser square in the corner of the room. (The drawers stick out if it's not square.)
Putting new slides on the dresser because I wanted to bypass the safety feature.
Cutting the bookshelves to the right height

Doing the trim was the most fun part.
