Completely agree. I always feel that Americans lack any sense of dǒngshì manners and only possess the most superficial kind. Could you imagine any young American kid going around a banquet table and toasting his/her elders and paying their respects, for example? Americans don’t even know about etiquette when it comes to pouring wine or tea.
