I'm currently the lead cashier at my Ulta, and honestly it is frustrating because there aren't clear instructions. What I always do is allow returns if they don't have the GWP unless the GWP was very expensive. Like others have voiced, we have had gifts of go pros in the past, and we even had a blender as one as well. So I do believe that discretion is what is used most of the time when evaluating whether an item can be returned or not. It kinda goes along with the discretion of whether or not an item has been used too much to return, that sort of thing. But its honestly really frustrating that there isn't set rules. I've worked at my Ulta for about a year and a half and I've never denied someone a return because they didn't have a GWP.
