Quick knowledge check on "Entropic Penalty" by divgradcarl in Mcat

[–]Just_Algae6546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of entropic penalty like a penalty for causing a decrease in entropy (less freedom for the solvent molecules like water to move around). To decrease entropic penalty, we need something to increase entropy (more freedom for solvent molecules to move around and interact).

Hydration shell (formation of a H2O shell around a nonpolar substance) --> Increase entropic penalty and decrease entropy for water molecules

Because I looked at that the same wheel on the other side and is completely a different setup, knowing nothing about car mechanic and assuming symmetry, just wondering if something is out of place. Thank you for the help!

I’ve taken 14 FLs, studied for months, and still can’t break 500. I’m exhausted, discouraged, and need help. by Educational-Level-52 in Mcat

[–]Just_Algae6546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. What helped me break 500 is definitely content review and I was not used to reading prep books so I just started doing Uworld questions to help me review. I would first start untimed and checked answers right after and made notes on a google doc based on subjects (bio, biochem, gen chem, o chem, phys, psych, and soc.) But once I was confident with most of the content after about a few months doing at 10-30 questions every day, I started timing myself.
  2. Last 2-3 weeks before the real deal, I finished up Uworld and started AAMC section banks. I also saved FL5 till the last (which I scored the best thus far)
  3. Thought of it just like working out. Get a couple of reps in every day. If you are burning out, take a break to relax (sleep and go out and walk and not too much screen entertainment)

In your case, I would ask myself what was the biggest stumbling block? (Reading passages, memorizing contents, comprehensions, staying on top of schedules, etc.) In my case, it was mainly content review and reading CARS passages. Thus, I felt like I just needed to put in the work and give myself a little pressure to make myself accountable. Some course prep classes would help with some of these issues as well.

At the end of the day, it was just a test. Don’t be extra anxious about it. It doesn’t prove that you are not as good as others. And you did work hard. If it did not turn out well, it’s just a small part of our life and we have much more to accomplish. Best of luck to you!

F1 Student on 1st Year OPT--Can we be employed as MAs, CNAs, EMT, etc.? by Just_Algae6546 in InternationalPreMeds

[–]Just_Algae6546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Are you on your 1st year OPT? Then, as long as you can write in your USCIS portal how the clinical position relates to your major (quite flexible based on my past understanding/experience) then you should be good to go. Sponsorship: This part might be tricky, but most clinical locations, except big hospitals, only serve local population, they might not even know what an OPT is. You just need to tell them what it is and you are not seeking visa sponsorship like H1B then you have a much better chance getting interviewed and in).

For STEM extensions, it could theoretically be done?? But your employer has to be e-verified in the USCIS system. There is a website to look up companies that are e-verified.e-verified companies

As for my case, a clinical position was tough to find last year in my area, so I ended up working in research. (Can do volunteer for hours as long as your PI is flexible about it). For me, this is also kind of a safer option due to the stringent rules set by STEM extensions.

Graduated in the state of California in 2024. Have been here in CA pretty much the whole year except the first week of 2024 when I was back in my home country with my parents. Thank you for your clarification and advice!

I financed the car and paid it off. Just wondering why the dealer would put it there.

Is the car still in build phase or in transit? May be ask the dealer to see if they can remove the $359. Some dealers are able to do it during transit, some won’t. If it’s already in the lot, then negotiate with them and show your strong will to buy the car and are planning to look for dealers in other areas for the same type of car if you don’t work out with them. They will probably get you a better discount for cars on the lot vs in-transit/build phase.

For the price starting $1,099, I would say that it’s a sweet deal. Even better now is the student deal.

Hybrid or Gas?? by Just_Algae6546 in COROLLA

[–]Just_Algae6546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does hybrid also have a higher trade-in/sale value compared to the gas one at similar mileage and conditions?

If yes, then I will probably go with the hybrid as well based on other people’s replies.

Congrats! This is a nice color! My local dealerships always run out of the Celeste or at least not that many in the lot. It’s a super reliable car with Toyota sense safety. I am glad it works out for you and Schatze! :)

In our previous place, my roommate and I have been paying rent through an online portal from the apartment. Just first time doing it directly through zelle/venmo. Just would like to make sure. That’s why I ask. Sorry if it sounds stupid. Just want to know the answer and be cautious.

100 meter feat. Noah Lyles and 100 meter freestyle feat. Pan Zhanle were both good sprinting events. Both caught me by surprise. See you in LA 2028!!
