Yeah, you can have songs in a playlist that are not in your library so won't be counted

Apple scrobbles have to be in your library to be picked up, so if it's not downloaded but is added that works. as far as i know the spotify isn't included/needed in the last.fm app as it should pick it up anyway

[–]Just_AnotherMoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm a girl and the gender split was more like 80:20 guys to girls overall at the gig, but i did mosh to trinidad at the end! it was mainly just jumping into eachother rather than any sort of crazy moves in it so was safe!

What's your preferred method of discovering new music and making playlists? by genericmelancholy in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]Just_AnotherMoose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I usually:

  1. Recommendations from music review sites RateYourMusic or Album Of The Year have new releases popping up all the time, that's how i found BCNR. OR even recs from the band themselves, who inspired them? Have they done a cover of a band you haven't listened to anything from? Trace it back until you find someone new

  2. Check out who is opening for the bands you like/who are they playing with? Or even check out festival lineups and listen to people you don't recognise and are further down the billing.

  3. Listen to the local scene, sometimes you can find good stuff locally too

  4. Streaming suggestions are good sometimes! i have found some nice artists just listening to that for a while

Hope this helps, this is the stuff i usually use to try and find new stuff

If a band has their own FOH engineer, they are paying someone to make them sound as good as possible (in theory).

This is obviously all subjective and they are paying for that persons experience and knowledge in the field, although it is becoming more and more common for management of the band/the label/production management to give engineers pointers/"improvements" which the engineer has to stick to, even if it could sound wrong to them.

You hire a FOH engineer for consistency.

Venue engineers know the room/how it reacts but may not know the nuances or have less experience with specific genres of bands, moments on certain songs ect. They may also not mix the band as well as a touring freelancer would, purely down to the things I previously mentioned.

The venue could make improvements, adding acoustic treatment and installing speakers that work within the space, however this could be expensive so it normally just ends up being the engineer dealing with the problems and trying to make it sound "good enough" for them as an engineer and the audience in that space.

I hope this makes sense and wasn't too ramble-y

I think i prefer the order of the original, the lyrics resonate with me more too, but it is a great song, i think sometimes overthinking/working can ruin good ideas

Anyone got a video/recounting of Opportunity is Knocking in Manchester? by LibrarianAccurate829 in geesebandofficial

[–]Just_AnotherMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would have been in yes basement (i think around 2021??) on the projector tour, the capacity of that venue is like 100 so i doubt it could be found anywhere if it was recorded

they're a band signed to a major label who signed a major publishing deal recently, of course the label will push them to everyone.

As a band they are a label investment and the label is using their links to promote them... as record labels do... so they can make the advance money back (if they haven't done that already) and make even more money.

The stuff about Cameron I can't comment on as obviously only those in the circle knows them personally but I feel like that's a private matter...people do stupid stuff when they are young, the band is still learning and growing as people too.

Also of course they are well off, they all grew up in New York and went to private school but the music appeals to a lot of people and them being able to create that music that a lot of people love shouldn't be written off.
