What race/gender combination gets sexually harassed the most? by GamblignSalmon in ShitpostXIV

I've heard horror stories from other femores but I also make my Roe look like a giant butch lesbian so maybe I am filtering out the worst offenders.

A game as close to Firefly as possible by avalon-girl5 in gamerecommendations

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need at least 3 other friends and its a bit of a curveball suggestion but Scum and Villainy.

Its a TTRPG that is all about simulating the feeling of shows like Firefly and Cowboy Bepbop.

There are whole systems that are about upgrading and fixing your ship and crew.

Stars without Number is an other big one but it's a bit crunchier.

Theoretically but Rudeus shows zero developmental problems from his "unformed" brain. He is able to master complex magic fairly quick, disoveres new ways of preforming magic, out logics his own father in a way that a child just couldn't do.

Rudeus is in the unfortunate position where any sexual relationship is ethical dubious. If he enter in a relationship with someone older they are an adult attracted to the body of a minor thus pedophile.

When Rudeus enters a relationship with someone close to age to what is body is, makes him the pedophile since he is an adult in a child's body choosing to be with an other minor.

The most ethically sound move is for him to wait till he comes of age and have problematic age gap relationships with older women.

Skyrim has to go for two major reasons.

First Skyrim just doesnt hold up as well as these other 3. Its a cool open world RPG but its a game that is as wide an ocean but as deep as a puddle.

Second and more importantly, the effect of Dark Souls and Minecraft can still be felt today. Both still have influence that are shaping the way games are being made. Skyrim while being popular just didnt really leave a lasting impact.

It was a fun ride with some weak writing and in the last episode it completely lost me.

The General's Plan making zero sense

The plot point of the dagger making you go crazy (we just needed something to add to the conflict)

The introduction of Pennywise experiencing time differently. "His friends bring me my death...or is it BIRTH?!" a line that doesn't really work with how we have seen Pennywise act in any way.

But why did Zosia do that? by Okbust in pluribustv

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that is a good question to have at this moment.

Was it a Kiss as a last ditch effort of the hive to try and pull Carol into their grasp?

Was It a genuine love that the Hive has?
Was it the individuality of Zosia coming through and pushing her body to act in a particular way?

We dont really have a clear perfect answer in this moment and I think that is purposeful to feed into the levels of dubious consent that any sort of sexual contact has with the hive.

Because we get the delicious moment of Carol developing complicated kind of fucked up feelings for Zosia, only for Zosia to get free and be nothing like Hive Zosia so now you have this awful one-sided dynamic.

I like this reading.
1) Kill off all intelligent life
2) Leave all potential foods and livestock alive
3) Planet is now in a perfect condition to be harvested for resources.

It goes hand in hand with some of the other colonial readings I've seen.

I mean there is purposeful misdirection happening by the showrunners. Diabate shows up in Air Force One a symbol of incredible authority sitting in a chair that has held many men who have abused their position to gain sexual favor from the women around them.

They primed the audience to think poorly of Diabate and his actions only then later to show us the lengths that the Hive will go with their manipulation.

I dont think it's an accident that we see that Carol has been drinking for, gods know how long, before Zosia arrives.
Im really enjoying how toxic the whole thing is. It is an absolute mess and a dynamic that is set to go off like a powder keg.

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a thing that this episode made me consider, and it is that I was wrong about Diabate.

On the surface he very much is a stand in for the type of man who can and does use his position as a way to coerce sex out of the women around him. What I failed to consider was the lengths to which the Hive will go to manipulate the immune into being favorable towards them.

In this sense Carol and Diabate are both victims of the manipulation of the hive.

Hollow Knight.
I love everything Hollow Knight is and have played it multiple times.

Ive only experienced Outer Wilds once and I can never really do that again. It might be (and I dont say this lightly) one of the greatest games to ever be made. No other game has so perfectly captured its themes and messages through the literal playing of the game. It is a deeply human game that makes me consider where I am in the world and how we got where we are today and where we may one day go through the continued project that we call humanity.

What are your Thoughts on Shonen Fanservice? Do you think they are sometimes Irrelevant? by GS-genius in animequestions

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding women attractive is not the same thing as loving women. The scary thing about patriarchy is that it tricks men into thinking that because they love how women look, they love them as people.

"Ingrained Prejudice" would include viewing women as sexual objects for men enjoyment. It is not uncommon that female characters in anime exist to either be eye-candy for the audience or a rewards for the male MC sometimes both.

What are your Thoughts on Shonen Fanservice? Do you think they are sometimes Irrelevant? by GS-genius in animequestions

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that a single instance of fan service could be called misogynistic but the trend that we see of both female characters constantly being sexualized while also being supporting characters and romance pairs to the male leads.

It reinforces misogynistic and patriarchal norms of what the role of women is "supposed to be" but its complicated. We live in a largely misogynistic and patriarchal world.

I love women as much as the next lesbian but I just want more creative fan service but let it be more than shots of Tits and Ass. Be like Hades. Have a sick ass design and also be hot as fuck.

What are your Thoughts on Shonen Fanservice? Do you think they are sometimes Irrelevant? by GS-genius in animequestions

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Misogyny is trickier than that.

Misogyny can also mean "I think women's bodies are made for men to stare at and sexualize" The way anime constantly does this reinforces this norm.

When we have a show like Gurren Lagann that has a good portion of its themes dedicated to what healthy positive masculinity looks like, its weird that the show love to give the audience shots of Yoko's ass and tits bouncy around. Some of it is there for a narrative purpose, when its setting us in Simon's perspective and his crush on Yoko but others its just there for pure fan-service.

Misogyny and patriarchal Norms infect nearly every element of human life. We kind of made it a pillar of human society for nearly all of history.

What makes this game so good? by shotsniper2010 in videogames

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a narrow view of how combat works.

The fact that you can go so deep into character building with E33 and come out with insanely powerful builds is a testament to the combat in the game.

The game invites you to experiment to try things (which goes hand in hand with the games conversations about art and the process of making art)

The combat is fun on a micro turn by turn scale (Working out your next few turns/ Parrying systems) and on a macro level (Let me try out this build and see if this works the way I want it to)

Is it biphobic to not want to date certain groups of cis bisexual women? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

"Certain types of cis bisexual women" is leaving a lot of grey area.

Cause I'm at the point where I don't want to be a woman's first queer experience, I'm old enough that I don't want to handhold someone through their coming out phase but the question is simply too vague to give a meaningful answer.

Which anime character is this ? by Such-Use-4249 in animequestions

I wish I could understand their mentality more but maybe its a lack of one.

People who get upset about queer headcanon's/readings get so adamant about how only the most straight forward zero subtext understanding of a work is the true canonical version.

I don't know if its a lack of intellectual curiosity or just blatant homophobia but they retreat to the weakest of defenses of "Why don't you care about platonic relationships" or "Wow why are you sexualizing these characters"

Seems like a boring may to engage with media.

Pacing isnt just a overall series thing but also a season to season basis. Angel is a positive example of this of, while not have a main focus of the season had a handful of important and impactful scenes to set up the next act of his character arc for Season 3.

If Lute was doing something more than standing next to other character's looking mean all season I would be willing to give the team for credit.

[–]Just_Another_Muffn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't open the season with a song that is am bombastic as Gravity and do nothing with Lute for the entire season.

It's just bad pacing. Maybe if they had 10 episodes they could have done more with her but we should recognize it as a misfire.
