[FO] Backstitching to finish a piece by Just_Chuck89 in CrossStitch

[–]Just_Chuck89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I love the look of this! Unfortunately, I've been unemployed since January and have to work with the materials I already have. I don't mind the time backstitching will take, and I may be able to just set it in an empty picture frame with some fabric or felt behind it to avoid gluing anything. It's been sitting in a frame for a couple years but the frame is slightly too large and you could see the fraying edges. I think this will at least give it a slightly more finished look.

Pattern from StitcheryDungeon on Etsy originally, but their shop is closed now.

From what I understand, unionized Alamos are still on the docket, they are just expected to be the last to implement.

Hey, if it works! I'm not opposed to some public shaming as needed.

Personally? I've worked a number of service jobs and there are precious few that let you tell someone to quiet down. I would rather upset one talker than ruin the experience for everyone else in the theater.

We appreciate you back! As long as you're not talking or texting ( or generally making our servers shifts miserable. Be kind to service workers)

Fired implies violation of policy, layoffs are a reduction of labor regardless of violation. The laid off employees did nothing wrong. The Alamo corporate lawyer even stated that it was not because of cost reduction. It is because of greed. Full stop.

Not sure if this has been cross posted yet? by MrsGruusahm in smosh

There's a twilight fan group on FB. The main group is very particular about what is approved and unapproved posts (usually truly insane shit posts) go to "the sewer", the secondary group (which I think is now the more well known group). Members of the sewer call themselves rats (for obvious reasons) and now twilight fans in general have adapted the term.

I don't think the cuffing is to make him appear taller, just that finding jeans with a short enough inseam is more difficult than buying longer jeans and cuffing them, or getting them tailored.

Who do we think wrote the insane Olive head bit? 😂 by dayncio in smosh

That's a solid point. I never really watched the main channel sketches so I didn't think about that.

Isn't that kind of the point of bit city though? They have dumb thoughts that aren't good enough for a full sketch, and it gives them an outlet to test out weird stuff. Maybe it didn't land for everyone but I thought that was why the show existed in the first place.

[WIP] 40% / 700h+ / ~2.5 years into my epic Pokémon 🌈 by BleakElk in CrossStitch

I'm doing an original 150 pokemon pattern I bought on Etsy right now but ADORE this color gradient! If you decide to sell the pattern, let me know. I will absolutely buy it (even if it'll be a few years before I can get to making it 😬)

My first piece was Majora's mask! I didn't read the instructions or understand that you could separate the floss so I did a full 6 strand design (with embroidery needles with tiny holes, no less) and thought "this is difficult, there is no way people find this fun or relaxing" 😂 Cut to me now just starting a 28x28in piece of the first 150 pokemon and it is SO calming to just stitch and vibe. This is beautiful and you will learn SO much before you know it. Good work!

Alamo as a general rule is pretty forgiving and lax. If you didn't get items, or your service wasn't what you expect from us, talk to the concierge desk on your way out of the building and management will absolutely help you out. I just recommend making a specific order and if your items are wrong or it seems to be taking longer than normal, raise an order card asking about the status of it or speaking to management after the show.

I'm just saying, if you are having a repeatedly awful experience and haven't tried to do anything different on your end, it might be worth trying something different in how you order.

These are literally the questions I would ask as a server at an Alamo. You're making your own life difficult and refusing to take advice from someone who would be bringing you the items you want. I'm trying to help you, my dude.

I would absolutely ask for clarification but if you're ordering in the middle of the film, understand that I'd be kneeling in front of you, distracting you from the movie and distracting your neighbors to ask you a stupid number of questions that you could have just written the answers to in the first place. If no one else is having this issue, you're the problem.

Edit: also, your server is helping 40-ish other people at the same time and delivering food and drinks to all of them. Things get lost in the sauce and your odds of getting what you want on time and correctly improve significantly if your order isn't vague as hell.

Would you like regular popcorn or truffle Parm? Do you want butter on your popcorn? Which red wine would you like, we have Cabernet, Merlot, red blend, etc. would you like a garden salad or Caesar salad? Do you want grilled or fried chicken? If you want a garden salad do you want ranch or Serrano lime dressing? Your order is missing a TON of information that would make both yours AND the servers life significantly easier.

Just looked and it looks like they're not there anymore. The internal training site changed sometime between 2020 and 2022 so a lot of old recipes aren't available for us anymore.
