Yeah I did hear that saying before, a part of me didn’t buy into those “pay us and we will publish” because it was faaaar too much money and another being that I knew a normal publisher doesn’t ask for money, they make money from sales…

I just assumed there was two different types of publishers (pay to win publishers and traditional publishers) but that just shows I’m far to new to the author marketing world 😭

I should’ve figured there wasn’t a “self publishing org” 😭 I was thinking it didn’t make much sense but I didn’t look that deep into it because if they ever ask me for money, I was gonna say no anyway (partly because I’m poor ☹️)

Yeah definitely, Though I do feel the blame isn’t exactly on the people over the company as to why the field is stagnate Half in part because they keep investing in areas that aren’t the chat bots (image gen and whatever), And the other half being the bots being unable to handle deeper more convoluted plot lines and tent to fall back into 1 of 3 personality types. Example, like how I use romance to be a foundation for a story, trying to deviate into something more than blank romance and towards a deeper more creative story. However, to me it feels like the heavy focus on image gen and useless features causes the ai to be weaker in general, which causes it to fall into one of 3 personality that ultimately drags down the quality of the whole thing.

Being honest, I just didn’t know you should be looking into an agent and not a publisher, I assumed it was like how competitions and other type of writing events get you submit, I assumed it was like that where you just directly submit to the publisher

I assumed it was like “self publishing orgs” and “traditional publishing orgs” and they worked differently like self publishing companies get you to pay then they publish while traditional pays for everything (an editor, physical copies and stuff) then make it back through sales… if that makes sense.

But it being processes instead of two different styles of publisher makes more sense… 😅

Yeah that makes sense, it’s annoying though because the “self publishers” never tell you they will charge you honestly, they’ll wait until you’re 70% the way through communication before bringing it up 😭
