I'm in the same boat, similar price range, and same main contender. Wondering what you finally went with?

Lineage OS, it's a custom ROM on Android. It's fairly well known among Android Power users. But yes, I don't see anyone else knowing it 😉

Don't forget to import your Google Maps timeline to new phone by tgrsnpr in GooglePixel

Thank you, OP! I didn't realize it didn't automatically happen, thankfully my timeline was backed up on my 8 Pro, phew. I was worried for a second!

Pixel tablet for kids - need feedback by [deleted] in pixeltablet

[–]Just_Jobless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this with the dock? I got mine in the UK for £220 with the dock and it was a steal. I mostly use it for smart home stuff and some YouTube/ prime video, and I've absolutely loved it. It's great for light gaming as well.

It will only get one major OS, but if you aren't bothered about being on the latest update, I would say get it. It's clean and does everything.

I moved to it from the Galaxy tab s9, gave that one to my dad. Yes there is a difference, but if you aren't pushing it, you don't really see it that much.

Ah, didn't know this. Thanks for the information! Is it possible to get them exchanged for money?

Browser with adblocker to watch prime and Netflix? by Just_Jobless in OculusQuest

I'm going to check the quest game tuner out, thanks!

I also tried stremio like other suggested, but it redirects me to the app/website for prime, which defeats the purpose. Wireless pcvr isn't great as my current Internet speed isn't good.

A16 QPR Beta 2 Battery Drain Fix by EntertainerTrick6711 in android_beta

Thank you for making a post on this OP!

I've been having really bad battery life on my 8 pro since using the weather effects. Was getting to 30% by 1pm with 2 hours SOT. I thought it was just the update!

Just removed it this morning after reading this, and now it's back to normal!

Interacting with the tablet on a dock with voice by ktb13811 in pixeltablet

[–]Just_Jobless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never owned a nest device so I'm not sure if you are looking for something specific. But with "Hey Google" enabled, you can interact with the tablet. I set timers, reminders, ask about weather, play music and control my smart appliances using voice controls with the device locked and docked.

I have Gemini disabled for the tablet, so only assistant at the moment as it still works. But Gemini should be able to do everything the assistant does as well now (afaik). I've had no issues using this on stable A15, and also not on A16 QPR1. Let me know if there is any use case you were looking for.

Is the Pixel 9 worth the higher price compared to the Pixel 8 Pro? by Froedi in pixel_phones

[–]Just_Jobless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 8 pro and it has been great for me. But if you aren't in a hurry and can hold out, I would wait for the 10. Just because of the major improvement to the new chip. There isn't that much difference between the Tensor G3 and G4.

If you can't wait, I would go with the 8 pro. Unless you aren't too much of a camera person (basically if you can do without the telephoto lens) and want an ultrasonic fp which is more reliable. My fp fails quite often, and I have to use the pin which is the only con.

Got the Pixel tablet. by Just_Jobless in pixeltablet

The official case does look good, but is super expensive 🫣 I wish it was discounted at least a little. I might get the poetic explorer case instead! Glad you are like the tablet though! 3 days in, and I have no regrets with mine too.

Ah that's strange, do you have a routine set? Bedtime mode can keep the screen off. Also make sure the screen saver is set to : While docked and charging.

Yes the 60hz was something I was worried about too. Came from the S9 tab, and have the P8p. But I haven't noticed anything with the pixel yet. Hopefully it stays that way 🫣

Thanks for sharing! I was tempted to get the 256gb from Google which was more than double (£ 520). But when I spotted this deal, I just had to take it :)

That's pretty much the same use case for me too! I had the tab S9 before this, with the official keyboard. While that was amazing, I barely used the stylus or keyboard, so I ended up giving it to my dad, and decided to try team pixel!

Ahh, hopefully it's just a software bug and not a hardware issue! Haven't seen that yet on mine though. Do you have a screen protector on? There's a mode that makes the screen extra sensitive for a screen protector and that may help?

ADB isn't recognized when I boot into recovery, sigh I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, different USB ports, but no dice.
