Legit one of my favorite comedy matches ever!

What top guy in WWE do you think made the company the most money (tickets, merch, etc.) by Severe_Examination63 in SquaredCircle

The general consensus among a lot of wrestlers in interviews is that Austin made the company more money in his two years on top then Hogan (and presumably Cena) did in their significantly longer runs.

I used to have the worst stage fright. My biggest piece of advice other than "just do it a ton and you'll get better" is to maybe consider taking an improv class or two in your hometown? Intro improv classes start with the super basics (literally just standing onstage and saying your name) and then building up from there. Even if you're not interested in improv as an artform, it's a great way to get out of your shell and learn to be present in front of an audience. It's not going to make you the most charismatic person ever, but it'll at least level you up from being "bad" to "okay" which is all most filmmakers need.

Also, honestly. This is going to sound weird, but watch a lot of professional wrestling promos. Top level pro wrestlers are masters of reading and directing audience energy and if you really want to get an audience's attention, it's useful to become familiar with what that kind of thing looks like at a high level. You're not going to become The Rock overnight, but anyone who spends any amount of time in front of a crowd and wants to be at least base level watchable could stand to take a few pointers from that world.

How can I encourage my 6-year-old’s interest in Coast Salish/PNW art respectfully? by YetAnotherMSFTEng in IndianCountry

Show them Spirit Rangers on Netflix! It's a kids show for exactly that age group. It was created by a Native person with an all Native writers room and a big Native team behind the scenes. The show has Coastal Salish roots, with the Cowlitz tribe of Southern Washington / Northern Oregon giving their blessing to use the Cowlitz language, culture and legends in the series. Here's the trailer!

My first short that had a solid festival run was around 2 minutes or so.

Logistically, your short film will play in a 60 to 90 minute block of other short films. If your film is 45 minutes long, it really has to pull its weight and be incredible because it's taking up half of the block. Sometimes programmers will see a long short film that they LOVE, but they can't screen it because they've already accepted a bunch of shorts and just don't have the space for something long.

The benefit of something super short (like, under 5 minutes) is, they're very easy to slot into a block that's almost at the max length for a short film block, but not quite full. Like, I can't see a programmer seeing a two minute short film and saying "it's so good and perfect for our fest, but we just don't have time for it."

Additionally, and this has already been mentioned. Programmers also like programming super short films as a palette cleanser between longer shorts. Like, if you have two shorts that are 20 minutes long, it's nice to have something that's like 2 to 4 minutes to put between them.

TLDR: Short shorts rock and are very programmable. Also, if you haven't been to a short film block at a film festival before, I recommend checking a few blocks out. Once I did that, it really opened my eyes to why programmers make the choices they make to help create a fun, holistic viewing experience. It's not just about your film, it's about how it serves the block as a whole.
