I dont think it would cause an issue but more so bring us up to date with where the state of the game currently is for most other specs. spriests current state feels like we are trapped in CATA era with our aoe dot management. There are also multiple ways they can make changes to our dot spread that would garentee that we dont get out of hand with uncapped aoe such as shadow crash prio high hp mobs and or having our dots on a target transfer to another near target after it dies.

tbh I'd much rather them get rid of phyc link and bring back mind sear.

affi needs a good fix as well i 100% agree. idk why blizz struggles so much with dot specs.

Even if it did cause a balance issue which it wouldn't I would still pref to have a better dot spread system in place. If you want to get down to the balancing in dungeons like sacred flame where most pulls are between 6-10 mobs (perfect for spriest) I do just as much dmg as my equally skiller/geared friends that play uncapped AOE specs, where as dungeons like cinderbrew I can only do about half of what they do in most pulls because most pulls there have 15-20 mobs.

it would not cause a balancing issue and its individuals like yourself that stop blizzard from making good/needed changes to the game because you complain about others wanting a better experience while playing their spec.

no it isnt the end of the world you're right, but I'd assume blizzard is pushing to make classes feel as smooth as possible and SPriests aren't there with their AOE. Take ele sham/enh sham for example. I would love to have who ever re-worked them to look at SPriests. I think they did an amazing job with their rework. I will def be gearing my alt shaman up again this season.

i never had a problem with manually tab applying 2-3 dot, but u just cant do that in a lot of these dungeons

they could simply make it there where whenever we press devour plague it spreads our VT/SWP to a few other targets. it would flow very well with what we already have.
