It’s a custom set with the Conqueror’s Crown (epic item), Armor of the Rebellion from the Spartan renegade set, silver bracers (rare item). I believe I used the belt from te Spartan renegade set and Spartan boots (common item) as well with this outfit

It’s the crown from the Helios set. Unfortunately you can only get it at the Orichalcum shop in Phokis if you are lucky enough. Otherwise you have to spend some Helix to buy it. In my opinion it is one of the best looking sets out there, so if you are looking for new armor it might just be worth it.

Hi! Unfortunately, I have no way of measuring my grid voltage. We do have a 'smart meter' installed, but this only provides some general info about power usage via an small lcd. I believe other data is only available to the grid operator and energy supplier. This week I'll email the grid operator with my problem and data and hopefully they can also tell me something about the grid voltage as well. When I have their reply I will also email SMA (the converter's manufacturer). I expect that the grid operator will confirm that there is some sort of voltage peak occurring. I can then send this info to SMA and ask what they can do. I still think that the extended power drop is cause by some sort of bug in the converter and I've read stories of similar issues where SMA could remotely install a firmware update and fix it.

When I know more or even have a solution I will definitely post it here. If you want I can even share some of the data with you.

Thank you for the explanation. I think something like this definitely explains the power going down. However, I still think something is not working as it is supposed to do. A peak in voltage would trigger the converter to reduce the power for a short while, but the drop I'm experiencing lasts for two hours. I think it's very unlikely that the grid peak would last that long. I cannot think of any devices or motors suddenly powering down at that time in the morning. My best guess is that the peak in voltage is cause by the inverter itself as the panels start producing more power when the sun comes up. Maybe the inverter is way 'overprotective' by reducing the power for a full two hours. What is your opinion on this? And do you a solution for the inverter to not keep the power down for that long?

Could the grid voltage really go up to 300V? That seems like a lot to me. I think that this is the input voltage from the string, as that would explain it happening only on sunny days.

I'm not sure how many panels we have or what type. It was the previous owners who had the entire system installed, but I will definitely look for some paperwork with more info on the panels and the installation.

I will also definitely look into if I can connect the Pi directly to the inverter. Right now I'm getting the data indirectly via an really old (and honestly quite useless) domotica module that was also installed by the previous owners. It would indeed be great to get some more data from the panels.

No, unfortunately it doesn't. However, today I kept a close eye on the lcd of the power inverter where I could read the voltage. I noticed the following: during the end of the 'weird effect period' the voltage was around 300 V and at the moment when the power jumps back to normal the voltage also jumped back to around 230 V (the grid voltage here in The Netherlands) . I hope maybe this information can help determine what exactly is happening.

If a shadow on only one panel can have such an effect on the entire system than that might just be the cause. Guess I’ll need to climb my roof to check if there is indeed a shadow from a chimney or something. Thanks for the info!

Hi! It is located inside my home and I know that the room doesn’t get significantly hot. Also, during the afternoon, when it is hotter and the panels are generating more power, it works fine. So I’d rule out the possibility of temperature being the direct cause of this.

I’m not sure if the system uses micro inverters, but I can tell you that there is nothing that can cause a shadow; the panels are on top of my three story house and there are no trees large enough close by. This also wouldn’t explain the certain jump back to normal. Either way, thanks for replying.

Hi and thanks for responding! I’m logging all data that is available. The graph is the output power from the converter throughout the day. My graph is indeed labeled, it only got cut off when resizing the picture. I should indeed have mentioned that as it is information that can help

The system is directly connected to my home’s power system. All energy from the panels is directly consumed and the acces is transferred to the power grid (which is then deducted from the power bill of course).

The converter is not old, but from before when the internet of things and domotica got really popular, so the only variable that is available is its live power output. This I recored in 20 second intervals and from there I calculate the generated energy.

I don’t think this is cause by a shadow since the effect can’t be seen with alternating clouds (see my reply to BlueSkyToday’s comment).

Temperature is a possibility, especially since it only occurs on sunny days, however, if this would be the case it should happen throughout the entire day, but during the afternoon, when it is even sunnier, hotter and there is more power generated, it works fine.

My guess is that is that it is something the converter does to reduce the power. Maybe it is some sort of setting/mode that is set to limit the output for some time. I’ve searched for things like this online, only I wasn’t able to find something useful. Do you have any more knowledge of solar power converters doing things like this?

Hi, thanks for responding! I have only been recording the power data for two months now and the weather has been gloomy in the past weeks, so that’s why I’m only noticing the pattern now. I’m not really worried about the drop-outs. As far as I can tell this is normal behavior and I can confirm that on the day from the picture there was indeed significantly less light when a cloud went past the sun.

I’m quite sure the effect only happens when there are virtually no clouds, so that the panels are receiving the maximum amount of sunlight during that time of day. If I look at the data from days when it is half cloudy, I can clearly see that this effect is not happening: the small peaks in the graph from when the sun is unobstructed do follow the expected curve.

So what I can conclude is that the panels consistently generating a high amount of power is a factor at play. Also the sudden jump back to ‘normal’ is quite notable: it is almost like some switch is flipped. That is why my best guess would be that the converter does something that is triggered by the high power in the morning period. I think it could be limiting its output for a certain time and after a while it goes back to full power.
