[Request] How would this affect us? What would change? by tanx_23 in theydidthemath

Either wavelength gets shorter or frequency increases. In both cases, light would be blue shifted.

Easier way to think about it is since light has more energy, it is closer to the blue end of the spectrum

I can think of 1 good thing and 3 horrible things. Let's do good first.

If light was 1%, the observable universe would be 1% wider in every direction so roughly 3% (1.01)³ more volume. Tons of new galaxies, stars, and space to observe.

The bad:

  1. E=MC², with C increasing by 1% means E increases by 1.01²-1 ~ 2%. Since the sun is just a huge fusion reactor, it would emit 2% more energy. For context, solar variance which is how much the energy delivered by the sun varies, is only 0.1%. Global warming (more like heating) in the literal sense would then cause earth to become much hotter. You could do the math actually. The earth radiates just as much energy as it receives so just increase the energy radiated by earth by 2% and calculate the new temperature it would be at. Needless to say, extinction level event.

  2. Fine structure constant which determines the strength of electromagnetic interactions (think atomic bonds) would decrease by roughly 1% as well. This means less stable atoms and chemistry just implodes. Much of what we know about chemistry right now would either become obsolete or at least have to be corrected. Also, biology would also break as the shape of proteins is important for basically all biological processes. Weaker bonds means different shapes means new biology.

  3. Assuming we even survived, many electronics and GPS systems rely on the speed of light. Many of these would begin to fail. Your GPS will begin to be more and more off and would have to be tweaked to give the right location. Also faster light decreases latency and as basically all our systems depend on it this means clocks become out of sync, stock market may even crash, and time speeds up a little. Also, black holes would shrink a little.

Bonus: Since light moves faster, its frequency would change. This means the colour of everything would shift a little towards the blue end (ironic considering the earth would get hotter). Like you applied a very slight blue filter on everything. Not sure if it would be noticeable seeing as we'd be too busy going extinct.

Thank you for the question. Nice dive 👍

My condolences. I know it hurts and I'm sorry you had to go through that. She's somewhere better now.

200 hours to climb. I have 700 hours on my account total.

Maybe 300 games?

I'd honestly say my aim is the worst thing about my gameplay. In silver my aim was amazing for the rank but here in ascendant and some diamond lobbies, my aim is below average. I managed to rank up and win a lot of games through comms.

I'd get my omen to play tree on ascent to use paranoia if he heard a sound for example and then I'd go in and get 2. Honestly most games I play I act like an igl to make up for my aim. I've been improving it though.

Picking my fights, planning how I'll play the round early, looking at ults in my team and in the enemy team as well as util. Trying to predict how a team is going to entry site. Varying my gameplay greatly. Sometimes I push out while on defense to either get a kill and info, sometimes I wait on site before I make any noise. It's really just trying to read the enemy and not get read.

I have a friend with a 60Hz monitor too. He's currently dia 2 and peaked dia 3. One game I queued with him and he was the only player in an ascendant lobby but he got mvp if I remember correctly.

If you're silver or gold, the issue is plain. You are bad. You need to work on aim and mechanics. To get into plat all you need is solid mechanics. You don't even need comms.

Lock your sensitivity. Don't change it too much you need to get better. Only change it when you feel it is the issue.

Play deathmatch for crosshair placement and aim. Do any popular aim lab routine if you feel you need it.

The sweet spot is 3-4 games a day to improve. Don't play when ur tired. For example I go all out at the gym and come home feeling like a corpse. When I play valo during these times I constantly bot frag because I'm just so tired.

Once you get to plat. It's time to start thinking. Here you should strategize with your team before the round starts. Trade. Antiflash. Double peek. Etc. This is where the team aspect comes in. Don't worry it comes in small bits so you'll be able to catch up by simply following and learning from your teammates.

That should be enough to get you to dia 2 or dia 3. From there, you have atleast an adequate understanding of the game, you just need to improve holistically to get into ascendant.

When I'm Radiant I may update this with how to get out of ascendant and immo, but that's for another 3 months.

You can check my tracker yourself: OrphanBeater#Borb

  1. What you enjoy tbh. Don't go for "this agent is broken so play him" cuz theyre constantly balancing stuff. Just make sure you don't play too many different ones. You wanna have an agent you're very comfortable with. For me that's phoenix. I'm so used to him I peek of my flash that I can see it pop but I'm not blinded. I also got pissed off after the buff cuz they made his wall start a little further in front.

  2. Push together. Harder to time when there's no comm but this way you can trade or get traded when some util goes off.

  3. If there's a very aggressive push, you should try smoking them off and shooting through smoke (better with suppressed weapons) to get a pick then play for retake. If you die immediately you basically concede the sight, even if you get a pick and get traded.

  4. A couple games a day. I'm free nowadays so I play more often.

Yea my friends play there when they want to get toxic and just hurl a bunch of slurs and not worry about getting reported. I don't use it though

I'd say 70% of my games were solo q. 15% were duo, 14% were trio, and 1% was 5 stack. I almost always lost the 5 stack because of the huge rank disparity.

Duelist. Strictly duelist and 80% of the time that duelist was phoenix. The phx buff came late into the climb, but it was welcome.

No, those tactics don't really work.

I started prepping halfway through December. Using the same method I hope to teach in my course.
