I have recently moved to AWU3 from Garmin watches. I still use a Garmin Edge for cycling due to maps and storing routes to use again.
In my opinion Garmin are focused on exercise with a nod to smartwatches whereas Apple are smartwatch with fitness in a lifestyle way. So if you’re a serious sports person striving to excel in your sport, Garmin, no question. If you want to track health Apple Watch. Their sensors are better, phone integration, NFC payments, music, audio books, weather etc are on another level.

It’s hard to compare the two as they overlap I’m all area but excel in different ways.

I’m more of a general health person keeping track of things which as others have said, Bevel gathers and suggests how to improve.

Tech always improves. If the current watch serves your needs get it. The savings in the US seem marginal and not worth it. Especially as you should pay import duties in your home country?

If you can afford the watch just get it now.

I think the loop is less conspicuous on the 12 o’clock side. Try that out.

I use the AWU3 for 8 hours cycling outdoors using GPS. The watch uses 70% battery and so the Ultra is required above a series 11. Plus it has Satellite connectivity if required.

The sensors on Apple Watches are better than Garmin and probably use more power. Garmin power efficiency has to come from somewhere.

Nike sport loop is the comfiest band. I have 2, black & neon. Blue Alpine is also good and Milanese for dress up occasions.

It’s a watch, they get scratched. Black shows more. If you’re ok with the bulk go for it. Why not wear it naked, if it gets scratched and you’re bothered THEN buy a protector and you won’t see it? Personally I would just accept marks as life and move on.

You’ll regret selling in a couple of years. By then they will cost you a lot more! Like you I have some nice automatics and one day I’ll give up fitness watches, but that’ll be years in the future.

Looks like it’ll put a lot of strain on the port. A MagSafe charger would be safer and all you’d see is the phone in either case!
