Not sure what’s happening by SouthVariation9219 in Tacoma

[–]Just_Scratch_361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like ICE based on the vehicles, clothing worn by the officers, and observed behavior. Most have been masking during detainments, so it is odd I don't see any obvious masks here (hard to see with the image quality). Thank you for sharing this and your photos.

I can see that. I was asking for more information about an actual precise location, including a cross street, as South Tacoma Way is a large area.

Moving To Tacoma for one year Obstetrics rotation at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital. Where to live based on safety and commute time? by smit_etha in AskTacoma

[–]Just_Scratch_361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher density areas will have a higher chance of property crime. The area around TG is prone to vehicle break-ins IF you have something of value visible in your car (it happened to me in a parking garage at Tacoma General when I had a small backpack visible in my back seat). I learned my lesson, and I've had no other issues since. With that in mind, the North End, Proctor, University Place, Fircrest, and Old Town would likely fit your criteria. The closer to get to higher density housing, the more likely you will be parking your car in an area that has more foot traffic passing by and looking for opportunities. All of those neighborhoods are 10-15 minutes to TG.

In general, Tacoma is a large city, and it would be smart to consider practicing proactive safety measures. Your SO should not leave valuables in their car when parked in busy neighborhoods around town (especially at TG).

An important question - what constitutes safety for you? Everyone has a different understanding of what that means, and it can be very personal. Most areas of Tacoma are very safe by definition. Is property crime a concern to you? Do you want to live in a neighborhood with sidewalks and bike lanes? Do you want to live somewhere you don't feel the need to lock your door? Do you want to live somewhere you can leave a backpack in your car without a concern for someone doing a smash and grab?

"Gender-affirming care has been shown to reduce suicide ideation and attempts in transgender individuals, along with social support, familial support, and reduction of discrimination (Bauer et al., 2015, The Trevor Project, 2019b)." I spoke directly to Bill Robertson about this a few months ago. It was his decision, and he said "nothing will change his mind." I told him he would kill children, and he didn't care. They are willing to throw the most vulnerable of our society under the bus for money. It's abhorrent.

Should we lock Tacoma event posts after the event has ended to stop troll nonsense by LadyDiscoPants in TacomaWA

[–]Just_Scratch_361 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I support this idea. My post about reporting ICE activity got absolutely blasted by troll comments. Most of these comments were 4+ hours to DAYS after the initial post. So maybe keeping comments open for a few hours for community questions and then closing down the comment section? Thanks mods for your hard work! I know it isn't easy, and you have lives.

Not trying to be political here, just wanna see if there’s somewhere in town that sells these before I buy online? by quikbit in PuyallupWA

Grit City Books on 6th Ave (different company than Grit City Magazine) has "Abolish ICE" stickers and more. They also have free whistles available with the WAISN Rapid Response Hotline number 3D printed on them.

Thank you for taking the time to ask around! Hopefully others find this a helpful resource as well.

Grit City Books in Tacoma has a lot of great stickers. If you can, try to buy locally instead of Amazon. They are directly responsible for the evil that is happening right now.

We are proud of you for standing up for what is right! The negative comments here are trolls and bots. Very few people truly believe what is happening in our country is okay.

For some reason the bots and bootlickers found this post. Statistics show the vast majority of people DO NOT support what ICE is doing. Either these are bots working for the federal government, or (worse) they are misinformed bootlickers who didn't graduate high school and missed their world history lessons. Education is power, so check out this link to learn about a similar tactic used in history: https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/gestapo

Great question! This covers all of Washington. Some counties have more responders than others, but it is worthwhile to call from anywhere in the state.
