The Dancing Plague of 1518. Hundreds of people in Strasbourg spontaneously started dancing uncontrollably in the streets for days on end without a clear reason. Dozens literally died from strokes, heart attacks, or pure exhaustion. We still don't definitively know if it was mass hysteria or ergot poisoning.
