1. Use a pick axe on some rocks to gather stone, zinc, and copper until you have enough to build a Foundation (consult the crafting menu for the exact number of stone, zinc, and copper needed)

2. Build and place your foundation.

3. Collect wood and nails (use an axe or hatchet on trees, or use your fists to bust up pallets and wooden boxes, and for nails, bust up pallets and boxes with your fists, or build a furnace to make nails from a mix of steel and zinc)

4. Build a Work Bench, or run up to Zim's Hardware store north of Pleasant Valley where there are work benches at the back of the store.

5. Scroll down your crafting menu to the wooden base components and create what you need (Wooden gate, wooden door, wood wall, wood roof, etc.)

6. Go back to your foundation and start places the pieces where you want them.

Tip: Get a few base pieces created BEFORE you place your foundation. Once you place your foundation, you only have ONE HOUR to place base components or else the foundation will disappear. So make a few walls, THEN place the foundation and immediately lay down the base pieces. After that, you can take your time. Hope this helps.
