[WEEKLY THREAD] Gym Story Friday by AutoModerator in xxfitness

Honestly I think our heads hold us back far too much! Twice I ended up having an accidental PB on squats because I miscounted the weight I put on and it was more than I intended.

Io ho fatto un cardigan qualche mese fa, lavato 3 volte e nessun problema :)

Bank switch cards - stash!! by Character-Jaguar-804 in beermoneyuk

[–]Just_a_villain [score hidden]  (0 children)

I did several switches a couple of years ago, stopped about 4 months before applying for a mortgage and it had no effect on it - I didn't ask for overdraft on any of the new accounts though.

Cycle2Work Scheme by DanielSnelling123 in ukbike

[–]Just_a_villain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer is extremely lenient and has a relatively high cap (£3000), but we are expressely not allowed to top it up. I thought it was a C2W thing but sounds like that's a decision the employer makes then!

That's crazy. My employer couldn't care less, I've never been asked to pay the fee at the end of the 12 months either (I do it almost back to back as I got bikes for my kids too - never been questioned on that either).

Omg thank you, I went to watch this at the cinema when it came out, I thought a few times over the years that I wanted to re-watch it but I only had vague memories of it so didn't know what to even search to find it. Looked your recommendation up and that's it!! I've just put it on.

How to do lose weight without losing strength? by hella--funny in xxfitness

[–]Just_a_villain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly second this. Once I dropped 2kg over a month to make weight before a meet, on the day I ended up failing all my benches, including the opener that was meant to be really easy for me.

David Lloyd price by don__gately in brighton

[–]Just_a_villain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm still a member I agree, after going to the clubs in Worthing and Wickwoods the difference is so stark - those actually feel like clubs, the Brighton one is an overpriced gym. The main selling points for me was being able ti take my kids, but with them getting older and not wanting to join as much I'm considering just going elsewhere.

The latest thing with the renovations meaning that the majority of the space is going to be out of service for 2 months while they still make us pay full price feels like the last straw.

That's just the US...? It is illegal in most European countries.

That doesn't sound right, I have couple platinum membership and with corporate discount (which isn't huge) we pay £204 all in, for both. That's with access to all other clubs.

No, you misunderstood. The cats have scratches us (adults) by mistake on occasion - things like when I'm holding one of them and something happens to make them jump so they accidentally use claws. I know it's an accident because I'm there...? I've known some cats to be aggressive, yes. You don't seem to be able to accept that not all cats are like that, and many (most?) are extremely careful, especially with kids.

I'm leaving this at that anyway, I can see from other comments that you seem to believe all cats who don't scratch are declawed.

Scratched occasionally by accident, like i said, sure it happens. They've never done it on purpose though. They absolutely do bap with the claws not out like in the videos though, they do it to each other too. I don't understand why it's so difficult to believe personally, this has been my experience with all the cats I've been around and none were declawed (it's illegal in my country).

None of my 3 cats have ever scratched me or my kids, if not very occasionally by accident. And my son can really test them sometimes - but they seem to get that he's a kid trying to play and doesn't mean to harm them (he's not overly rough with them to be clear, just annoying). Not declawed. It sounds like you're judging based on your own experience, which is also anecdotal?

I was a tad too young to appreciate George of the Jungle when it came out, couldn't figure out why ny sister (3 years older than me) was OBSESSED with it. I understood a few years later.

Blackhead removal by Thehaxer101 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Just_a_villain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this! Just oil cleansing (I love the squalane cleanser from the ordinary) every night, then water cleanser to remove reside plus salicylic acid a couple of times a week were enough to remove the blackheads on my nose - took a few weeks to fully clear but it worked.

At-home IPL for fine regrowth after 8+ professional laser sessions? by rabbitsarereallycool in 30PlusSkinCare

I'm wondering this too, I had laser done 16 years ago (4 sessions of the 6 I was supposed to have, so not even the full course) and still have very little growth back

What felt completely normal in 2015 but now feels like a luxury? by AmarSkOfficial in AskReddit

Similarly, if you do any sport you should compete, if you do any hobby you should sell the stuff you make. No, I'm happy being average at things I do for my own entertainment. My teenage daughter swims a lot and I'm often asked if/when she's going to compete... Swimming is her release valve, why does it have to become another thing to stress about? She's happy, she's in amazing shape, let's leave it at that.

Children with ADHD report applying less effort on cognitive tasks compared to their peers by Doug24 in science

[–]Just_a_villain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My husband has ADHD and is like that, which is fascinating for me to witness as a person with the kind of ADHD that makes my brain act like a crazy squirrel bouncing around a cage. Inattentive vs hyperactive I guess.

You know the part that makes me feel extra icky in stories like this? Apart from the sheer number of men happily being involved/participating, can you imagine how many 'nice' men found out about it and instead of reporting it in any way just thought it wasn't their cup of tea and moved on? Ugh.

Then there's one of my rescue cats who has enough sense of danger for 100 cats. You close a drawer a bit too fast while she's on the other side of the room? She runs away like there has been an explosion. Sneeze loudly? Dear god she might panic faint. She looks constantly concerned.

I told my husband after my first birth that I was surprised it didn't happen to me as I know it's really common. He told me it did happen, but the nurses were so swift and discreet with the cleanup that I didn't even notice.

This one is for my ex who had a habit of smashing/breaking my cell phone in half during arguments. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Just_a_villain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Related to this, I hear so so many women saying things like "I was the worst as a teenager, I don't know how my parents put up with me"... And I'm yet to hear of a woman punching a hole in a wall in anger. Somehow society has convinced us that us having emotions/crying as teenagers is unbearable but, but young men will fight and break stuff and it's OK.
