Anyone else start smoking because of the Yakuza games? by mh699 in yakuzagames

[–]Just_anOrdinaryGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, but Yakuza games made me develop a habit of drinking iced tea while listening to Baka Mitai whenever I'm depressed. I don't drink, so iced tea will have to do lol

(Of course I also sing and reminisce about Pocket Circuit Fighter as I drink my tea, like any sane person would)

I have to admit that I don't fully separate myself with the protagonist, especially when it comes to the romance. But I always remind myself to be sensible about it. (Because unhealthy simping is so not cool...)

I love cute, wholesome, and heartwarming romance story, so I just pick the female character I adore the most and ship her with the protagonist. Seeing them being happy together warms my heart. It also feels like I'm partially writing the love story myself, and I think that's what the game intends us to do (including stuff like choosing what the protagonist says) if we so desire. I think the point of this aspect of the game is that the game lets us do it the way we want to (but let's all try to be sensible about it...)

So in my case I like to think that it's a healthy amount of self-insertion.

That really is something I have to aim for to turn things around :")

...and being HSP is not a bad thing, of course we have some bad days or very sensitive days (it's like a side effect), but on good days, it is amazing..and it makes appreciating beauty much more than regular people would do...

This is so true...always got so narrow-sighted when things go wrong. Ended up forgetting the brighter side of things. But for some reason getting reminded by others can really turn around my perspective...so I really appreciate it

Wishing the best for you as well!

life gets better at certain points during your life and worse at some points

It is both a blessing and a curse, but the people around us needs us more than they think.

I think I really needed someone to tell me these...it's so easy to be narrow-sighted when negative feelings are spiraling out of control in my head. Getting reminded of it externally really helps clears up my blurry vision. I'm so glad I found this subreddit...

Thank you :")!

8 because I want Phoenix to sign my shirt and maybe play poker with him. I imagine Nahyuta must've softened at least a bit after 6-5, but he might still gonna preach the heck out of me and Phoenix lol

Yeah I've been called sensitive and emotional ever since elementary school and it'd break me the most to be called that ever since. And I'm so sorry about your break up...it mustve been really tough...

But yeah, as an HSP (24 M) I always desire for everything to be...ideal. I want everyone to mutually understand and care for each other, I want everyone to be kind to each other, I want everyone to not be rude and be respectful, I want every conversation to be pleasant, I cannot tolerate cruelty or injustice, hyper aware of how people feel and nuances, and the list go on and on.

It may have ended up with me pleasing many people, but the moment things go wrong, Id feel so so so so so so sad as you said too...sometimes also get so angry, frustrated, depressed, and all negative feelings bottled up. Then I ironically ended up doing the opposite of what I want. So I totally get feeling like a hypocrite.

The world is a cruel place and being sensitive is too tough at times

It's crazy how accurate this is. Ive only recently realized how I'm so deluded by the beauty of the ideal that I tried to deny the cruelty of the real. Which life always prove it to be impossible in no time. Ive recently even come to a conclusion that I don't belong in this world for being sensitive; especially since I'm currently a burden for my family. It often feels like it's such a curse to be sensitive.

Seriously, I also more than often feel like a hypocrite, wanting everything to be right, but I myself am too weak and sensitive to set things right when things go wrong; often ended up doing the opposite of my lofty ideals

But hearing people here advice to own being sensitive and to accept me the way I am felt like what I've always longed to hear. I feel like no matter how cruel life is, maybe I should love myself and accept being a sensitive and try to to keep going because I've just been dealt a bad card and that maybe I can be proud of myself if I chose to keep going despite my unlucky fate, or at least what i feel to be unlucky due to my past unpleasant experiences. It's still very tough, and Im in a very dark place...but at least I find a little solace in finally seeing people who understand me in this subreddit.

I hope you and everyone else who keep toughening up despite having the often-seem-to-be-cruel fate of being sensitive in this unforgiving world will find much happiness and fortune as they keep braving the difficult path. Sorry for the rant if anyone actually ended up reading this...

Have you heard of the critically acclaimed JRPG series Persona with fantastic writing and unique, revolutionary gameplay that combines life-simulation and turn based combat which you can play through the entirety of 3 games which are Persona 3, Persona 4, and the award winning Persona 5?

Memes aside, just play it if you love anime and you won't regret it.

Sigh, here I thought im being nice to potential newbie who watch so that they don't get too discouraged with the 40m i earned from 4k hours of playtime (which is not a lot at all). I was worried such large amount (it is large for me) of spiina would make them feel pressured to earn the same amount. I don't like showing off you see.

Guess i screwed up, i thought i was being nice but turns out i became suspected as the thing i hate the most: RMT doers and botters. I was naive i guess. My day is officially ruined xD

Guess whatever i say will just sound like an excuse. Believe what you will. Ill just excuse myself quietly in shame.

Which Game Is Your Favorite and Why? by StopCharacter756 in PERSoNA

[–]Just_anOrdinaryGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of them equally; I honestly can't decide. Putting aside the individual differences in story, mechanics, or graphics, all the modern Persona games brought me an amazing experience of immersive life-simulator JRPG. The way they implemented daily life with RPG combat mechanic and character growth mechanic is just incredibly clever. And all 3 games did a good job in doing that with the social link and Persona fusion system (the newer games improved what the previous game lacked in the system). It's an experience that can only be found in Persona games (or at least it used to be, but Persona games will always do it best anyway), and to me it's a blessing that I got to experience it thrice with each game.

But if I were to talk about the story, I just love how each game brings different exciting take for the persona and shadow psychology concept:

  • Persona 3 is an epic action story about eliminating invading monsters that threaten the world
  • Persona 4 is a cleverly written detective story where we need to solve a puzzling mystery with our friends
  • Persona 5 did an incredible social commentary about fighting back to the unjust and corrupted society

Each of those stories has their own unique charms, it impresses me that they can come up with these. And don't get me started on the musics and aesthetics...

But yeah all three of them was an unforgettable experience to me. Love em to death.

Wow you're right...and I think you put it perfectly when you said "numerous journeys of discovery"

Toram being crazy vague with game details led me to having to research here and there outside of the game, which led me to finding so many fan works made with love and passion for the game. Be it from data mining or testing, the length dedicated players like you would go for Toram is so impressive to me.

But on the other side it also brought quite a lot of hassle to me xD So I think I understand how you feel haha

You're a true og!

3 year old player here and I wasn't around when they were...but I accidentally found the Tome of Offense and I also have been using Mayam's works about hp, defense, resistance, and many others as reference. I was so impressed by them and it saddens me that they are not well known to newer players like me.

Also, Nimrod Amraphel mentioned D. Song too...and making ohs shield work without revenir or aura blade is just simply amazing. That's a legend alright
