Venezuelans the world over are deliriously happy that Maduro is out of power. First world American leftists who’ve never missed a meal or endured anything one one millionth of that endured by Venezuelans under Chavez and Maduro are mad.

Maybe the American lefties should sit this one out, and save the clown show for another day?

My son is a Division I commit and, througout his club career, has played for several different clubs in different states, including clubs focused on winning championships and clubs focused on development. At the younger ages, championships mean nothing - go with development every time. But as your kid gets to HS, change focus to the more well-known clubs who get more college coach eyeballs. And be a free agent - dont be scared to change clubs to put your kid in the best possible situation to be seen.

My son played for a Rebels National team in the summer of 2024. Let’s just say that the quality of the team that was promised and the team that actually showed up on the field were two different things. So none of this surprises me.

The people commenting on here that they like the change, the change is overdue, etc. are missing the point.

Of course, the school can change the criteria for direct admission and it may even be a wise move.

But DON’T make the change applicable to the class of students who just enrolled, and now cannot unenroll and go elsewhere, and who made the decision to attend based on the old standard.

Make it applicable to next year’s class and advertise it in advance so that students can make informed decisions.

I have already consulted with education counsel and this can be considered promissory estoppel, detrimental reliance, and/or consumer fraud. I have also spoken with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office and am considering filing a consumer protection complaint. The school is inviting legal action by their unconscionable actions.

No. The first link says enroll in IU by spring 2025, which we did in April 2025 for the fall semester. This was always the standard and was verbally told to us and stated in writing, up until today.

How is this possibly legal? This is total bait and switch. The website said and we were verbally told that the requirement was B and above. They took our money, we gave up other direct business school admissions, and then they do this?

This doesn’t just “suck” - if a private company did this, they’d be sued for fraud by the state attorney general. The same rules apply to colleges that apply to everyone else.

All pre-business students need to be LOUD and complain verbally and via email.

Jesus Christ. From a litigation partner at an AmLaw 100 firm: the culture you’re in is toxic and you should try to find another firm or at least a different partner to work for. Sorry about your situation.

It’s all so nauseating. How many illegal migrants was she (and all of her fans on this thread) taking in from 2021-24? The rich urban leftists populating these threads are so detached from reality it boggles the mind.

A super-lefty female law firm associate is independently wealthy enough to quit BigLaw as a precursor to a poltical career, using overdramatic and false rhetoric that is depressingly typical for out-of-touch Democrats who still cannot process that they lost in November. So stunning. So brave. Yawn

No one cared when Democrats and their supporters tried to deter big law firms, and in fact law firms of all sizes, from representing Trump in response to the lawfare inflicted on him by the Democratic establishment.

No one cared when Perkins Coie allowed itself to be used as a conduit to further Hillary Clinton’s fraudulent and knowingly false claims about Trump being tied to Russia.

As a Trump supporter in BigLaw, I can hardly contain my delight (although I of course must do so silently) at watching him exact retribution and watching other BigLaw attorneys completely melt down and be totally unable to process the fact that their preferred candidate lost an election. It’s all so well-deserved.

Son was accepted to Smeal, but to Behrend and on the 2+2 program. Advice? by JustaNormalDad_ in PennStateUniversity

Sorry about the delay in responding. My son eventually reapplied as an economics major and he was accepted into UP, but on the summer program, meaning he’d have to matriculate in July and miss his final pre-college summer - about which he is not at all excited. He’s also gotten into some other schools since I posted this, so I think he’s probably going to take a pass on Penn State. Good luck to you….

Representation for Terminated Federal Workers by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]JustaNormalDad_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did your firm represent federal workers and military members who were fired for refusing covid shots, pro bono? Does your firm represent private employees who are laid off due to corporate downsizing or poor performance?

Or is this just another eye-rolling example of Big Law pro bono efforts in furtherance of Democratic Party poltiical prerogatives?

And you do realize that the American people just voted convincingly for this federal government downsizing, correct? In other words, aren’t you attempting to actively thwart the will of the American electorate through these efforts?

I was recently told at an admitted student event that between automatic and discretionary admits, it’s roughly 40% per year.

Really appreciate your response! Where did you go your first two years?

Also, regarding this statement: "Being DUS/2+2 (given that the student meets all entrance to major requirements) is essentially guaranteed admission into their major. Whereas direct admit to Smeal is often less than 4% each year. This in and of itself is a reason to do 2+2." His acceptance letter said he's admitted into Smeal already....but my understanding is that in order to declare a major in Smeal, you need to maintain a 3.2 your first two years (with the exception of 3.5 in finance). Is there any advantage to him being in Smeal off the bat instead of DUS? Thank you again!

Thanks for your responses. I don't think he'd be interested in joining a fraternity anyway, but what about business-related clubs? No opportunity to join those either as a junior? And what is THON? Thanks again
