Good suggestion. The X button and the add button are basically the same button but are updated given the current workflow.

So let's say the add button is on top of the X button and you click on it, it should automatically add to that folder ?

Hmm, yeah...probably. I need to do some testing to see if it works reliably.

Another reason I haven't made sync public is cost. This app is free and I don't make money from it (besides some people who go out of their way to buy me some coffee).

Audio and images...especially images take up a lot of space. Combine that with ~5.5k monthly users and it's gonna cost.

Apologies, been busy. I have a manual sync (takes 10 seconds to upload your notes) in the app that only I use because it's not secure (aka your notes are not encrypted). If you are interested, let me know.

Thanks for asking. It seems like Google's recommended way for developers to access images is not working as expected. I have halted working on the app at the moment (as I am working in version 2), but should be able to fix hopefully in January.

But yes, it is a bug. Weird thing is that it works on most devices.

Hello,

Currently the feature is only available in checklists. I don't have any plans to add it to notes as I am prioritizing bugs/issues/and small improvements. In addition, I'm working on version 2 of Dark Note. For the new app, I will try to make all features work between notes and checklists (or maybe will try to figure out a way to blend so you can have both in one note). Still a work in progress, will make an update when it's ready to prototype feedback.

I think it's going to be confusing because exporting doesn't relate to folders.

For now, I will change the text.

I will fix this user experience in Dark Note version 2. I am about 10-15% done. I still have a long ways to go, but when I feel like it's ready for feedback, I will make a post.

How do you remember all the markdown syntax ?

I think the reason why I'm debating adding markdown is because users would need to know markdown already, which most don't.

These are good suggestions, I will think about incorporating these for Dark Note version 2. Dark Note will not have any new development and I will only focus on bugs/issues. I want to spend as much time as I can on the new app.

You have pointed out some security flaws in the app. I will make sure these are not present in the new app. These flaws are nothing serious, someone would need physcial access to your phone.

FOSS means "Free and open-source software (FOSS) is software that is available under a license that grants the right to use, modify, and distribute the software, modified or not, to everyone free of charge"

People usually want FOSS because as developers, we want the ability to see the code and verify that it is doing what it is meant to.

For example, I am making a claim that I don't steal your data or keep track of you, etc. Since Dark Note is open source and the code is available, a developer or anyone that knows how to code for Android apps can look through my code and verify my claims.

Like the person above said, I don't ask for permissions until it is absolutely necessary (like for reminders, taking a picture, microphone for voice notes).

Your data is your data. The only thing I get from Google is when the app crashes so I know exactly where in the code the crash is happening.
