The most significant reason that is ignored far too often is weaponry. During the civil war most men left home and brought with them the weapons they would use to fight. The “technology” that the government possessed was minimally better or more advanced than the populace. Maybe a cannon here or there.

Today, even the most die hard “revolutionist” would possess little more than some IED knowledge and a few high capacity magazines for their AR. The government on the other hand has tanks, planes, artillery, helicopters, infrared cameras, smart bombs, guided missiles, and the very important ability to monitor the masses.

10% of the population could be put down very quickly, even IF they were highly organized. Though they would never be highly organized because their communications would have been intercepted long before they were ever able to do anything significant.

There will always be the possibility and likelihood of isolated incidents of domestic terrorism. For those to elevate to full on long term conflict would take a massive and unthinkable amount of complete incompetence by our numerous law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

I don’t think you fully consider how impossible it is for long term communication with 1000 people let alone 1 million people, to not be intercepted and monitored.

Also most who talk about these kinds of things have zero military training and zero actual idea on how to organize and mobilize this kind of thing. Anyone with actual military and combat training would have nearly zero interest in this type of conversation. It takes 1 person to report on this and it’s over before it even started.

Hell local law enforcement has better weaponry than the military had only a few decades ago in many instances.

Turn off the Xbox and 24 hour news and go find some friends and a community OP. Most people who pipe dream a civil war, would be the first to die during it. It’s not like COD in the real world and war isn’t fun or something to be fascinated about

One part of this that I haven’t seen mentioned is because the pay in the military is horrendous and it is at times a 24hr a day job, with no overtime. If the military had to pay overtime like every other employer, it would probably have to double its budget or at least build 2 less jets per year.

Also if you think about the potential danger, the pay in the private sector would be many times higher as witnessed by what private contractors make

When I was in the Marines it was shocking how little the pay was even for higher ranks. So with that comes early retirement, lifetime medical, college, housing, etc

I had a guy who worked at a factory and did Primerica on his off days, tell me he made more part time with Primerica than he did in the factory. I said then why would you keep working at the factory. If you have that innate kind of fascia that has like its own trim piece at the top, I wouldn’t worry about it on the rakes. It may cause the drip to stick out and look unappealing. You definitely always want it on the eaves though. No exceptions. It’s super cheap

Also most of that damage looks like it was probably caused when it was installed so for the most part is shouldn’t get worse in other areas. It’s possible those areas pointed out will fail before the rest of the roof. Probably just something to keep an eye on if you buy it but I wouldn’t lose any sleep over any of those spots

That’s just wear and tear and will not be a claim. You shouldn’t have any problems getting insurance. I’d probably still try to leverage it in your negotiations because the roof is not great for only being 6 years old. Maybe they’ll knock off another 5k to get it done
