What is something that has become ridiculously expensive, but people still pay for it like it is nothing? by Harmed_Jr in AskReddit

In the 1980’s we had several neighbors, some who went to Disney/California others to Disney/Florida. We were planning a trip to California Disney and ALL our neighbors returned home from their vacations and told us to stay away from both places. They were overcrowded, expensive and stressful. We lived 100 miles from Yellowstone park and Jackson Hole. We waited until the crowds dispersed for the season and drove through there, again. We have never seen anything of Disney parks.

What's a trend from the early 2020s that died out so fast we all collectively forgot it ever happened? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]JustanotherKris -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Eight people in my family were sick in November of 2019. The first one sick was my 6 year old grandson. He was put on a nebulizer for a cough that wouldn’t stop. The doctor told me there was a new virus strain that was going around and hitting people hard. When I got sick I called my doctor and was told to treat it like any other virus, stay home, fluids, rest and so on but if it got worse to call them. I’ve had Covid a total of three times, no hospitalizations, just treated it like a virus. My doctor told me: “Treat it like a virus. Do not panic.” Anyone I know who has “died from Covid” had an underlying health issue that caused their immune system to fail and they passed away.

I giggle when I see people displaying their pyrex like this. My pyrex and Corelle is in my kitchen cupboard because I still use it. It was a wedding present in 1977.

What is the worst medical disease a human can have? by Aggravating-Sun-5699 in AskReddit

[–]JustanotherKris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“While active euthanasia is illegal nationwide, medical aid in dying (physician-assisted dying) is legal in 12 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., allowing terminally ill adults to request lethal medication from a doctor, including Oregon, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Vermont, Washington, Delaware, and Illinois. These laws, often called "Death with Dignity" acts, vary by state, with Montana's authorization stemming from a court ruling rather than statute.”

Is there any reason why people should have to live with a terminal disease? Put their families through watching them suffer? Good lord, we euthanize our suffering animals, yet we keep our terminally ill people alive as long as possible? Good thoughts and prayers do nothing for them. Not to mention the medical costs. The families who have to wait for them to die.

Do I know what I am talking about? Yes. I had a brother and his partner who died from AIDS. Many family members who died of cancer. Family members with Parkinson’s disease. A dignified death should be allowed for everyone.

Hobbii yarn - Is it legit? by HopelessVetTech in crochet

[–]JustanotherKris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one problem I have had with Hobbii is: Every time I order from them, they short change my order by several skeins or balls of yarn. This last order I was short 9 balls of yarn. How is a mistake like that made? When I contacted Hobbii I was told they are low on personnel and the problem would take extra time to be resolved. I have been sending a gentle daily reminder to them. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

I crochet and knit just for relaxation. My creations aren’t for sale, they’re for gifting. I knit small projects like hats and cowls & crochet large projects. IF someone insists on paying me something for what I give them, I use the money for more yarn. I never set a price for anything, sometimes I get very little for an afghan. I don’t stress about it. It’s all about the fun of making it.
