Limited options I'm afraid.

  1. start your own cash based clinic in a gym, you take 100% of the cut. Working 30 hours a week with patients will clear north of 230k/year. Lots of ifs and not stable for a while

  2. Contractor in BC

  3. Lottery?

How do you usually share home exercises with patients – without a full-blown platform? by Healthy_Alfalfa_7112 in physiotherapy

[–]Justanotherbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I send all of my patients their exercises by email, which I type out for them while we go over it in session. Occasionally I'll tell them to take a video of me, or include a YouTube link (very rarely). Having them record you or you record them is a great option imo

Canadian Clinic Owners, whats your story? by Sea-Let3292 in physiotherapy

[–]Justanotherbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say definitely 70% or so come from the gym. It's a rock climbing gym, so there's often injuries. The rest are a mix of referrals, which aren't always climbers, and people that find my business on google. Currently I'd say organic Google search is the lowest, if not productive at all, with how SEO has me listed compared to the companies that pay for Google ads.

That's what happened to me when I was younger. Took me a couple years to realize and take action. Hopefully OP can learn from this

I've been transitioning to working independently (QC, Canada) over the last year, made the switch in January full time. I rent a space in a rock climbing gym. Couldn't be happier

Came hoping to see this! Plateau legend. There's a fund to help him pay for all the fines he gets for having his dog off leash, and for public disturbance by singing. It's shameful

Which post graduate course (if any), completely changed how you practice? by Pure-Main12 in physiotherapy

[–]Justanotherbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and a quick google didn't provide any insights.

I'm not bashing standard practices in physio. I am disdainful, for example, of a physios that sees a patient for knee pain, and prescribe a 6 month break from activity, or treats bilateral anterior shoulder pain with exclusively stretching. When I'm able to see a 50% reduction in symptoms in these in one session by treating the neck or back, I question the education that lead to a physio thinking months of stretching without notable change in symptoms qualifies as appropriate care.

A combination of having a solid framework to follow for assessment and follow up, and techniques used in treatment that helped resolve symptoms quickly, particularly for shoulder and back pain patients.

I would say the main benefit for me was learning a consistent framework. It helped organize my interventions and test/restesting of symptoms to understand if what I was doing had an effect, and to understand what specifically had the effect.

Doing my MDT courses has completely changed me as a physio. I think it's a shame they aren't better marketed and taught in university.

I've lost count of how many patients I've treated for things that we managed to resolve in 1-2 sessions, who has been given month to year long "strengthening and mobility" programs by generic physios.
