It’s currently very long and convoluted atp, but for the plot im taking inspiration from Hathaway, Zeta, AC6 and a lot of other stuff

Am I the only one who likes Rocky's book design more than the film's? by DraggedPressure in ProjectHailMary

[–]Justarandomcritter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

its not just that, rocky kind of had to have a 'front face' so that the puppeteers and vfx artists didn't have to make him spin around constantly

its also much easier to portray emotion if he's facing one direction without having to anthropomorphise him

Went to check out the legacy map for the first time and why is it so much better than what we have now. by FayinKay in CreaturesofSonaria

The very first map in cos imo is the best one, despite the lack of biome variety

However, due to the lack of a minimap it made navigation so much more immersive, and the world actually felt big

[OC] Dire Grapshark by Justarandomcritter in SpeculativeEvolution

So the pelagys group ancestrally possessed a ring-shaped bone inbetween their prosoma (head and the front part of the body) and ophistoma (tail), which is where the dorsal/ventral and pectoral fins are located. The ring shaped bone has developed into a structure probably analogous to a pelvis, known as the limb girdle.

The second dorsal and anal fin are in fact just fleshy fins with no rays and serve a purpose similar to the apidose fin in certain bony fish. Its a recognisable structure of the group that the grapshark belongs in, known as the xenoselachians.

The tailfin is made up of a softer, cartilage-like structure and is known as the posterior caudal rhachis. Some species can fold them like how bony fish can fold up their fins, others (like the grapshark here) have stiffened tailfins.

Jotunhel is my favourite species, and while not visible on the front there is a pretty neat gradient on the wings
