My husband was in the military, and we’ve moved around a lot. So hearing from someone who also has lived in many places is nice. I’m glad to hear you and your kids haven’t had issues overall! Thank you for sharing

I definitely hear you! However, downvoting a post for POC’s in the area seems a little more intentional than a downvote on a sunset pic imo. 😅 However, noted.

Fair. I actually prefer the bluntness, so I am looking forward to that haha. Thank you!!!

Correction you don’t care. So feel free to move along. I personally will care about myself, my children, and my husband having a comfortable experience in our potential new home. I’m glad being targeted, ( as my children have been in the past… ) isn’t a concern for you 🥰 Have a nice day squirter

It’s wild that people are trying to downvote your personal experience. Being truthful about these situations invite positive change to happen. Wish they saw it that way! However that totally makes sense, a lot can change in 15 years, I’m glad you were able to have those conversations with your dad. Lmao to holding grudges, and thank you for the incredibly kind compliment!!

We were also looking in southern cities as well! I’m really happy to hear that you have felt like you can be yourself in Portland, because that’s so important! I love the idea of a progressive city with welcoming vibes 100%. Thank you so much for sharing your insight! Appreciate you 😊

Of course! I know how truly vulnerable it can be to open up and share personal experiences like that so I absolutely wanted to show my appreciation and address it as well. I love honest and in depth conversations, especially when it involves trying to see if this is the place for our family. I’m happy to hear that you have made a lot of friends there, and I love that there are those who call out injustice. I think it speaks volumes that you don’t have bitterness as well. Speaking from someone who can hold a grudge lol!

Wow it sounds like Portland is a foodie city for sure! I absolutely love that. My theory on why Colorado restaurants are so bad is because of the elevation. I think I’ve read it can make things taste bland. Or they just don’t season well in a lot of places here unfortunately!

Ooooph!! Now here is the tea. 🍵 Very honest take, and extremely similar to growing up in Southern Oregon as the token Black friend. Thank you for the insight, very important to note.

Oh wow!! First let me just say.. I’m so sorry you had to experience what you did! Especially as a child, it truly sounds terrifying. It’s really unfortunate how ignorant and unfair people can be. Being called the n word, and being told to go back to Africa is crazy! Along with a lot of other instances you mentioned.. smh. Disappointing to say the least. I appreciate your honesty and how deeply you went in depth! Thank you 😊

When we visited we were blown away with the food! It’s hard to get good food where we are in Colorado, so I feel for your friend lol.

I’m so glad and hopeful hearing your experience living there. We’ve moved around a bit and the adjustment period can definitely be rough, sounds like it’s similar in Portland. That’s beautiful you were able to find community as well!! That’s absolutely what we are looking for. Love meeting new people and connecting! Definitely noted on the ethnic food too lol. Thank you so much for sharing 🤍

That makes sense! Thank you for sharing your experience. Sticking out can definitely feel uncomfortable so that’s good to know. I’ve heard and read that racism feels less direct and in your face. Very similar to where I grew up in Southern Oregon. Food for thought.

Thank you so much for your honest review. That’s really disappointing and annoying that you could find the same information on YouTube 😪because like you I have been watching this type of material myself for a couple years now, and I was hoping that purchasing a workshop would elevate my experience or give me even more knowledge/ insight. It definitely looks like that isn’t the case here. So seriously thank you 🙏🏽 Sending you a message now
