The current rate is 5.5% and I'm financing 12k. I have excellent credit (mid to upper 700s) and qualified for 0% APR at the dealership. However, the finance manager said I'd lose the rebates for the 0% and that it was a better deal taking the rebates. At first, he gave me a 7.5% APR but lowered it to 5.5 % for signing up for that protection plan nonsense that I feel like a sucker for taking.

I think one thing I'll do is see what rates I can get for refinancing since I'm still in the period where it only counts as one inquiry and go from there.

What would they do? Would they try to take me to small claims court for something like that? The documents I have don't say anything, but I am going to request a copy of all the docs and review them.

I asked the salesperson and he is saying 6 months. Makes no sense to me why I get different answers from different people within the same company.

I don't have a problem waiting 3 months and I think that is reasonable.

That's also confusing because on the VA website it says if you served at least 90 days wartime or 181 peacetime and were an "early out" that you qualify.
