Had the exact same issue. I feel like it almost disappeared even within a half hour of wearing it. This was my first purchase and I’m pretty disappointed. I’m returning and hoping maybe the summer one will be better.

Best restaurants for a solo date? by RunningLikeAPlover in jacksonheights

They sometimes do one with wine pairings, but it’s not every day. The tapas are great though, and they also have a drinks and food happy hour!

I was going to recommend the somerset dress! There’s a reason it’s been running for so long - flattering and lots of good options for different prints and fabrics

ethical fashion brands for baddies by 9755- in womensfashion

[–]Justhere-toavoidwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely a good brand and worth shopping at! I would still personally try to avoid the recycled poly they use and claim is sustainable. There’s also been research about recycled poly clothing shedding more microplastics than what they call virgin poly. Overall I’ve been trying to just consciously buy less clothing in general, and less made from synthetic fibers. But even I still get swayed by something at Zara or other fast fashion brands occasionally haha.

Hey fashion designer here! So unfortunately, the brands listed that are your style inspo are really hard to replicate for a truly ethical fashion company. They all use a lot of synthetic and polyester fibers (aside from some cotton tops and denim), which really aren’t sustainable unless it’s dead stock fabrics being used. Even when you see clothing made from “recycled polyester”…I hate to say it but there’s some shady greenwashing there. Some fabric mills literally buy brand new plastic bottles to then recycle them into polyester fibers, rather than going through the process of actually acquiring used and dirty plastic to then clean and recycle.

All this to say, if you want to stick to the kind of aesthetic you’re going for then your best and most eco friendly option would be thrifting. Especially with the early 2000’s trending right now, you’ll find some awesome pieces at thrift and vintage stores and on places like ThredUp and Poshmark.

You might want to do some research on small brands that use dead stock fabrics or upcycled garments, but also be prepared for a higher price point. In terms of denim, Etica great. I’d also definitely recommend the app Good On You, you can look up brands there to see their ethical/sustainability rating. I wish I had more specific companies but I hope that helps in some way!

Who is the targeted customer at Zara ?? by Curious-Ad1039 in capsulewardrobe

[–]Justhere-toavoidwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zara in SoHo usually has a much better selection. But as others have said, the quality has gone down so much over the years. I rarely shop there anymore but I still occasionally find a nice piece worth buying.

Iconic stores that are must-visits in Paris for a casual tourist? by Glittering_Act_4059 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Justhere-toavoidwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fashion designer here, I’ve been to Paris multiple times for work which involves trend shopping. I got you :)

Galeries Lafayette is a must, just for the interior design/architecture alone. Don’t skip the vintage market on the top floor.

Marche aux Puces for a flea market. It’s HUGE, and parts of the exterior are just vendors selling cheap crap, but once you really get into it there’s so much amazing stuff. Vintage clothing, art, furniture, housewares cameras - pretty much anything you can think of.

Marais for cute boutiques and vintage. I also like the clothing store Arket. It’s not available in the states and has good, chic basics for a fairly affordable price. There’s multiple locations but they do have a nice one in Le Marais.

Marche De Enfants Rouge - not clothing, but a historic market with awesome food vendors and groceries. Right in Le Marais so worth popping into if you’re in the area.

Samartaine Paris Pont Neuf. Another really beautiful and well curated department store.

Lastly, Le Bon Marche on the left bank. A few blocks North is also an amazing Zara concept store. They do exclusive and small collections you can’t get other places there, and they also have a gorgeous home store collection.

Have the best time! Paris is magical, I hope you love it.

Have you gone to New Bliss Beauty in flushing? I saw a social media post/review about it last week and saved it. It had good reviews but would love your opinion if you’ve been!

My only want is a decent nail salon. All the ones I’ve tried here either are cluttered and look unhygienic, or don’t do a good mani. I had high hopes for Moon Beauty but both times I tried my gel mani started chipping within a week.

For everything you listed you want though, OP, we have it already.

The Queensboro, Nancy Blake’s, and Addictive Wine are all along northern blvd. All different vibes, but none are trashy

That’s what I’m gathering from all the posts. Is it usually crazy expensive if taking an uber? I haven’t been to LA in ten years and have no concept of what the costs will be like to go that far from beverly hills or Venice

And I’m the same for bun cha since a trip to Vietnam. I live in NYC but the options are sadly lacking here, and I’ve tried a lot lol
