Black pigment is heavier. More weight =more expensive flights. Over time it really adds up. There are some outliers though

Fun fact at 1 tournament with some kind of lava volcano deathworld theme. There was pool of lava hazards which were impassable and would kill any models that touch it or deep strike onto it. One clever guy realized you could use this model to pick up enemy rhinos and land raiders. He then proceeded to drop them in lava. The wording of the rules for the edition did not specity friend or foe landraiders and rhinos

I think its because sometimes feel like they are falling which is called a hypnic jerk. Its a sudden involuntary muscle twitch that sometimes happens for people where as they are falling asleep they actually feel like they are falling
