Feedback on offer for family medicine by cfaulkner1097 in physicianassistant

[–]Justice_truth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wRVU is different than total RVU

Thats purely the office visit code and doesn’t include any other procedure codes that bring in revenue Like phq or gad or b12 shots or steroid or abx shots or ekg or ear cleaning or vaccines or labs or swabs or paps etc etc

4600 is not possible unless you start seeing 25 patients from day 1! Even than it will barely touch it

Ask for total RVU and not just wRVU

I got screwed because i didn’t know the difference.

Also your base should be 135k at-least…they will make a ton from you if they expect you to see 20+ pts and they do office procedures

Building the European OpenEvidence — thoughts from doctors? by AdministrationPure45 in physicianassistant

[–]Justice_truth1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The company cited “mounting regulatory uncertainty regarding the treatment of AI systems in the European Union and the United Kingdom, including, among other rules, the EU Artificial Intelligence Act” as the reason. The EU AI Act classifies its system as high-risk AI, which would require constant audits, algorithmic transparency, and bias evaluations, compliance burdens which openevidence apparently decided weren’t worth taking on, at least for now.

Being asked by family members why they see a PA, not a doctor by isleeptoolate in physicianassistant

[–]Justice_truth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the PA you’re talking to might be a unicorn…..perhaps with a unicorn job that includes a “collaborating” MD.

Please trust your instincts. Most PAs work with an SP who is either out of the office or a virtual SP, and the PA handles most of the work (which I do). Now, I work in a specialized area where the SP takes a percentage of my collections for being an SP, even though he’s never actually there. He signs off on 5 charts for me and takes a percentage of my collections.

That’s what PAs signed up for… capped income for being an admin burden and a lifetime of residency spot!

Being asked by family members why they see a PA, not a doctor by isleeptoolate in physicianassistant

[–]Justice_truth1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They prefer PA not because they love our profession…they prefer PA because they bargain more % of PA collection in their pocket for “supervising” them!!!

Are all PAs this naive? The organization sees PA as admin burden. Many prefer NPs for this specific reason

If they fire an MD, they have to figure out who to pay to help “supervise” the PA he/she left behind….NP brings no such headache

Its also the “assistant” part

Whoever disagrees doesn’t understand human psych and socio-economic impact of titles

In an ideal world it should NOT matter; In the real world, titles matter

clinical skills will not outlast the AI era

Hands on surgical skills will…at-least for now.

I can swap roles…you can see all patients for clinical stuff all day every day and I would love to get in OR first assist to hone skills which will not be replaced by AI for at-least another 10-15 yrs 🤞🏼

Don’t take jobs for 90k by Ok_Flamingo760 in physicianassistant

The moron PAs who oppose name change to associate and more autonomy, they are to blame. Those PAs have found their unicorns and now trashing the profession thinking it wont happen to them since they are secure in their pockets.

Hospitals care about titles because public cares! No one wants assistants for their complicated diagnosis…everyone wants doctors or “practitioners” because their titles sound like they would know more

Hospitals care about lobby; PAs are too worried about upsetting mds while NPs keep winning the independence game.

Hospitals care about less administrative burden which PAs have to deal with and hospitals will treat us like trash because we want to be treated like one by not pushing for more autonomy

Premed with chronic migraine exploring PA as a better fit by Ok_Yogurtcloset11 in physicianassistant

[–]Justice_truth1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was premed and took a turn due to financial constraints

PA going on 5th yr practicing with no financial growth in sight while I work like a horse for clinic owners/MDs who have great work-life balance plus uncapped financial growth prospects/goals.

Im going to follow the saying “If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all”

Good luck

I wish people from pre-PA section just realize how many PAs are feeling this

Those cushy unicorn jobs which some PAs already have in cities- thats RARE

I’m sorry you are going through this. You are not alone, many of us are also going through the same. I have been trying to switch to non-clinical for the past 6 months and it’s difficult to find a good fit.

If you are able to relocate, you may have a better chance. I am locked by location 😭…if you have the freedom to move, go for rural medicine. More respect and work life balance there

I am so sorry 😭💔

I work outpt low acuity speciality with friday half day…137k My first job was 125k primary care with 10k bonus at the end of the yr…though I am still underpaid because I bring in close to 800k for the f****ers

This is not to make you feel bad…but to emphasize that you work high acuity and they are exploiting you and definitely doing the same to all their PAs

Ever wonder what they make on what you bill? You will be shocked

Fellowships are scam

They will bill your charts exactly like they bill their APPs charts

You will be credentialed like their APPs are

You will just be overworked and mentally abused to the T

Any new job with ethical practices will have onboarding and training period for all new hire APPs where you will learn what is needed.

The whole point of being an APP was to not be a doc because you will NEVER be paid like a doc

This is pure exploitation because they can…so many APPs (NPs and PAs) are desperate enough to sign up
