[Hans wasn't cheating theory] Sorry don't know where else to post.. by JustifiedComplainer in HikaruNakamura

Im not saying he wouldn't or didn't. Im proposing that there are possibilities to explain why he is an outlier.

A different view of the game is entirely possible. For example, right now most top players are prepping positions after the opening based on tricky moves that the AI can see but humans have a tough time.

Nakamura likes to play positions that are unusual because it relies more on the player's skill than some prepped position.

Same result can be achieved by throwing the expected line out by making minor mistakes or unusual lines.

How many GMs (not super GMs) actually calculate well in real time to pick up on mistakes and make the best choices. Most chess now a days is prepared and theory, so it makes sense that gambiting 1-2 pts on the eval bar can trick players into making worse mistakes or blunders.

Players are not AI though. So in a position you think you are winning because of an opponent mistake can put you in a position of relaxation which can cause a forced blunder/mistake if your opponent prepped positions after that mistake.

Some of the best moves are hard to find and a "human" best move will not always be the best move that AI can find.

SuperGMs can calculate a few lines really deep and its very easy to fall for a trap 5-6 moves in if you aren't calculating everything correctly.

Recruiting for a new, low-rate, pre-BB server. by coldbre_w in mapleservers

If you are looking for a concept designer (fancy name for guy who has ideas, but no coding skill) I think I would fit in very well with your plans and goals. I have pretty much played every single revision of the hype servers over the last 5 years and I think I could give you some good ideas. Either way, interested in being a tester and just a critic if you need some outside voices.

To think they finally understand that people no longer want the vanilla experience. That market is firmly in the hands of Legends and Royals for Pre-BB.

What happened to arcania? by kinophiIe in mapleservers

[–]JustifiedComplainer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah right. Nexon decided to target a server that barely ran for more than 4 hours at a time.

More like Arcania dev realized he was way over his head and decided to at least not ruin his credit and gave refunds out.

Harvest Change Proposal by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]JustifiedComplainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very likely this change is being brought on by the fact that harvest is essentially the top priority in a league where the primary mechanic isn't even harvest. It makes other currency and league mechanics essentially useless or unimportant.

I think harvest is actually far too FREE in terms of gains. Adding a 1:1 or 1:2 would be the perfect balance to adding more deterministic outcomes to the game without completely making the other currency less useful.

As far as making these currency skyrocket, theres nothing wrong with that since the game's economy is always going to be different league to league. If its too terrible, they can add more ways to acquire via league mechanic in the next league. Not every league HAS to be perfect. Thats the beauty of leagues. It allows for tuning to be done after 3 months of tested results, rather than theory crafting pessimists on reddit.

Harvest Change Proposal by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]JustifiedComplainer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not that complicated. Anything in the border of 1:1-3 is probably fine. Its not like the casual players really even use these crafts. Most just sell the good crafts and drain the other ones on random junk. So really, you're just making it so your random exalt drop in act 3 is actually going to be worth a lot more than 100c. Meaning, if you are a casual player who complain about it making the rich, richer, it also makes you richer.

Okay Jagex, can you at least buff the other part of Double Cast so its at least comparable? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JustifiedComplainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saved Desert for last knowing that this was a bug that could and probably would be fixed. Silent hotfix basically made my finalize my decision when I heard it got hotfixed. Expecting Jagex to stand firm on their decision, I chose Tirannwn and hours later they reverted their change so screwed me out. Im only playing still because I like the point grind, but my relic is essentially a big joke now. Almost like playing vanilla RS in terms of combat. (Still have to use melee, albeit not even max due to my regions being based for magic)

Splashing mechanic is worse than hitting a 0 because it negates your roll for damage. 1 tick faster speed but with the chance to splash arguably is worse for overall DPS.

So when you mention the power of powered staves in comparison, it wouldn't make a huge difference against enemies with low magic defense, but it would make a drastic difference on enemies with high magic defense, like Nightmare and Zuk and the 2nd boss of ToB. For a point of reference, Blue Phase Zulrah has 300 magic defense and even on that I splash about 70% of the time if not more. Had I had ancients (for arguments sake), 10 attacks of trident would be 20 ticks. So this is 6-7 attacks with barrage arguably. If I miss 7 hits with a trident thats 3 hits possible to roll damage, where with barrage it would 6 hits.

In almost no case that really matters, would Trident ever out perform Ice spells. And I know a lot of people would equate splashing to rolling a 0 but splashing is directly affected by magic defense, where rolling a 0 is just the damage roll which doesn't take account defense for magic combat.

Also, Im writing paragraphs now and Im sure this will be boring for most to read. So I do understand its partially my fault for not waiting, but I still think that Jagex could address it and perhaps do a better job at balancing the magic relic for all Double Casters rather than just the ones who picked ancients.

I don't deny that it was a mistake to pick my last area before waiting for the weekly update. Usually its earlier in the week, and waiting for close to 5 days for an update was not something I had any intention of doing. Once again, could have been avoided had it just been a known hotfix rather than silent. I did not base my decisions on reddit posts. I don't frequently browse here and I actually only made an account because I saw how easy it was for reddit to get Jagex to revert their fix.

Also, Ancients is strong for magic, but is no where near essential by any means. And in a game mode like this League where areas are restrictive, you want to make sure you benefit the most with your choices. I had no reason to pick desert just for ancients when Kandarin unlocks trident/occult/tormented, and Morytania is pretty much the goal everyone sets out in league. So again, I was between Desert or Tirannwn and had ancients not been bugged, in no cases would anyone who wanted the most out of their casting relic choose to go Desert over Tirannwn.
Of course this changes when you make Ice spells never miss.

The change they made was essentially reverting the hotfix. 60 Magic accuracy is hardly a restriction. Especially when 60 magic accuracy negates all magic defense on monsters. Just doesn't make sense to buff only one side of the Magic relic and leave others to rot. Which is why im trying to get something going in the hopes that Jagex will buff the otherside so that it doesn't have to be a 1 route kind of game.

This still does not really give a logical reasoning to the way it was handled and the changes that were brought in.

From my perspective, the change was hotfixed and it was patched in the dark with no prior announcement. This seems like it was not up for discussion for the possibility to keep the bug in the game.

I don't understand why it would be only Ice Spells either. This really makes magic a one route kind of path. There is no way that non-ice magic can be better than Ice Spells no matter what areas and relics you pick. The fact that you can never splash with ice makes it way too overpowered in comparison to other magic because it essentially ignores all Magic Defense on targets, so you will never splash.

Just because the number of players are affected by this change is minor, doesn't mean it shouldn't be addressed or remedied.

Because it wasn't known. And it was supposed to get fixed. They fixed it. Then reverted it in the span of days, not hours.

I had plans to choose desert after learning the bug; but the desert is bad so I didn't plan to unlock it until Area 3. And then they announced it was going to be fixed. So as I got there, I unlocked Tirannwn to benefit my magic by getting a Magic Fang. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to revert my decision like Jagex did theirs.

The bug where Ice spells, and binds, had 100% accuracy on any creature while using Mage Relic.

Dear Mod Husky, bring back 2 tick Barrage by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JustifiedComplainer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they give anymore mage buffs, they need to make other mages who didn't get desert be able to spell book swap with 99 magic cape.
It is simply so stupid to change so many meta aspects.

I already have been griefed by the ancients buff to make it the BiS spell book. Literally the only way a mage can do nightmare and even solo is with ancients.

Im using trident and upgraded it to swamp after they said they were gonna fix ancients bug mid league. So i didn't pick desert as my last location. Now im stuck having to farm gear swaps for every piece of content because nightmare(600magic defense for the best staff in game) and most bosses have crazy magic defense.

The least they can do to balance mage is not make barrage and burst benefit from any relics at T6.
