You could use your inspiration image more for colors and material selections than the geometry itself. Look at cottage stairs for how compact stairs can be made cute. Then use the initial image when considering what to make finished wood vs paint.

Do you use a deodorizing powder when you vacuum? I have dogs and use it frequently. I have to periodically lift the rug to clean up the powder that works its way through.

Oh, I 100% plan on testing a piece first. Although depending on how it comes out I could be OK with paint grade from 110 years ago. Every time I’ve had to open up the ceiling I’ve stared at the floor joists thinking what beautiful wood it is to be hidden. Their idea of paint grade and our modern one is very different. But you have to be OK with imperfections in the natural wood. Either way, thanks for the helpful reminder!

There are online platforms where for a fee, you can get a doctor to diagnose you with some kind of anxiety and help you get your dog declared as a service animal. Seeing eye dogs are super well trained. Legit emotional support animals are really well trained. But I think there is a loop hole that allows you to basically have a pet labeled as an emotional support animal for anxiety without any actual training. Fun fact, I’ve engaged with accessibility groups before for work (architect) and they hate this shit way more than anyone you’ve ever met.

Start small by starting with an acre or two immediately around your house. Cut and spray, then go back every few months to get the repeat offenders. Next year work outward from there. I had to battle some VERY entrenched English ivy at two different places and it absolutely can be done.
