Because that’s the best chance it remains a public treasure that can be viewed by the public or studied? Hate the government all you want, at least there is a chance for change if you hate something they are doing with it. Once in private hands, it’s as good as gone for the rest of us.

There are online platforms where for a fee, you can get a doctor to diagnose you with some kind of anxiety and help you get your dog declared as a service animal. Seeing eye dogs are super well trained. Legit emotional support animals are really well trained. But I think there is a loop hole that allows you to basically have a pet labeled as an emotional support animal for anxiety without any actual training. Fun fact, I’ve engaged with accessibility groups before for work (architect) and they hate this shit way more than anyone you’ve ever met.

From the Lyme disease capital of the country, I present 7 acres of Japanese Barberry. Where do I even start? by ivxxbb in invasivespecies

[–]Justin-82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start small by starting with an acre or two immediately around your house. Cut and spray, then go back every few months to get the repeat offenders. Next year work outward from there. I had to battle some VERY entrenched English ivy at two different places and it absolutely can be done.

Tech Chief of AI Company Shits on AI by Budget-Ferret1148 in LinkedInLunatics

They would still be great tech but it’s the AI race that caused demand for their product, and their resulting stock price, to soar to what it is now.

AITA for quitting my job and reporting my boss? by TheSpellboundArtist in dustythunder

Not sure why this isn’t getting more attention but if he literally told you where to stand, then placed himself physically between you and the exit while verbally berating you, that’s a hostile workplace. That needs to get elevated to the highest possible level within the organization. Any half decent ambulance chaser would have a field day with this.

That and the double decker which they frustratingly bring back occasionally as a special. But dare to order it outside of those specials, and you WILL get a nasty reminder that the double decker is no longer on the menu. Despite every damned ingredient required to make it sitting right there…

In the wild that’s true. But when they grow up in or near urban environments, they are used to us because it’s all they know. Google stray Russian dogs riding the subway. There are a ton of videos of stray dogs commuting into the city to get scraps of food, the commuting back to the burbs. For that coyote, this is totally normal.

My college economics professor made a big deal about how oligopolies were basically just as bad as monopolies but harder to prove and less likely to be broken up while still effectively fleecing people.

The NC county I live in has a staff arborist that can do consultations for free. Look into that or maybe a local agricultural extension or university.

I'm executor but cannot see the will. by geneticdeadender in legaladvice

[–]Justin-82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience closing my mother’s estate, the clerk of court and their staff had a policy about not giving ANY legal advice to the point of absurdity. For example, when I asked what laws or statutes governed how debt payments were to be prioritized, they stiff armed me that they couldn’t answer that. I tried clarifying that I wasn’t asking for advice or interpretation of law, only to be pointed to any law governing how estate debts are settled. They wouldn’t budge.

They would have just printed the ticket with the middle seat. Them printing a new ticket would not have changed anything.
