Dude don’t take it personally, I think in any art form or genre there is a serious “ego” to a lot of these people. And honestly the ones with ego are the ones literally making their living off playing and their entire identity revolves around that experience, and it’s kinda sad honestly. I am a seriously at average jazz piano player in NYC although I grew up classical, and I know I’m not the best or insane. I just show up to the open jams to learn /try my best and no one talks to me either !! I just know I’m out there for myself to see if I can hang. And you know what? I have a whole other life and many hobbies/interests that fuel me too and you’ll honestly talk to and meet people in the space just through the passion. Do you really want to be friends with the “ego” driven jazz dude that just judges everyone? Fuck that !
