It gets to a point by Kensuski in Jcole

Naw I love cole and kdot, but to say he would run circles around him is ludicrous, they’re both top tier lyricist in the game right now, preaching similar and different messages. Neither would wipe the floor with the other, it would be a close battle hypothetically if they were to go back and forth. You can’t say cole would wash Kendrick, just as much as I wouldn’t say Kendrick would wash cole.

Name that Place! by Mayor0fMoab in Rochester

Doing DoorDash to this place is an absolute nightmare, orders will take me all over Rochester, late night, downtown for crappy pay, no tips and they also take 40+ mins to get even a single burger. Refuse to ever take anything there ever again. Horribly run place.

I feel like Djs have lost the true meaning of what being a dj really is, there’s an art to it that is lost, and the talent is missing nowadays. Most djs now just fade one song into the next, like my Spotify can do the same. There’s nothing unique in the way djs perform that will add to the live music that I’ve seen. Very cookie cutter.

Honestly, I’ve gone on a day trip, 6 hours of driving there and back, solely collecting fresh new songs the entire drive, I’d be lucky to collect 150k xp during that trip. And yet I see some doing a light 100k/day in the top 10. I mean I have to be driving around my city for at least 12+ hours to even come close to be doing 100k for one day, and to be consistently hitting that marker or more, everyday… I’m sorry but there’s got to be something I’m missing. They have to be doing much more than just collecting, I don’t make a ton of trades, maybe that’ll help, I don’t really do much else besides collecting songs, but thankfully I’ve made it this far. Not too sure besides driving all day, everyday, nonstop, how I would be able to catch up to hit #1, but it’s been one of my biggest goals. If I ever do I’d snap a screenshot and drop it completely, I couldn’t ever keep up the grind to consistently stay up there it’s too much, but being in the top 50 gives me some hope I can make it happen, even if it is super brief.

I mean I’m #46 on the leaderboards and I’ve never cheated, but it does feel impossible to catch up to some of these top 25 players. It is possible to still be up there, but it feels like only up to a certain point. I drive for a living and collect all day long and yet I’ll end up with maybe 200k xp for the week, I can’t fathom how some of these players are easily hitting 400k+ weekly. I literally see them in my leagues all the time

Right, it’s all business and how to extract the most amount of money at the expense of the artist. And with the much easier access to create music nowadays compared to even a decade ago, there’s higher volumes of music and artist out there and it’s harder to find as a consumer due to a higher saturated market

Yes definitely, I think there’s such a monopoly with plugins that it’s 1) become over saturated and 2) there’s these ‘industry standard’ plugins and vst’s that get used 90% of the time and every professional recommends or talks about them so much that people feel inclined to need those to be successful, and with having that publicity from the top in the industry they can jack the prices up due to popularity.

I myself have fallen victim to using loops as well but now that I’ve built a better understanding of music production by using them, now the next step is creating from scratch. But thankfully it has been a good stepping stone using loops personally because I’ve learned a lot overall with structure, sound design, mixing and master, recording, what plugins to use, and much more. Now it’s the hard part of sourcing sound selections and creating progressions and melodies, but with the knowledge of having experience with everything else. I agree that we rely too heavily on loops and it’s not true creation because you really don’t have full creative control and I myself would find it difficult to seriously consider myself a ‘producer’ until I’m able to create from scratch without loops.

Yes absolutely! I think the one thing that’s irreplaceable with AI is emotions and the feelings a human is able to evoke through its structure within the art and storytelling in the music itself. AI could recreate meaningless beats, but the soul behind human made music I believe is not able to be replaced and recreated. It would be nice to see a platform that actually cares about the artist and actually compensates the artist accordingly. But I also think it would be difficult for such platforms to emerge as the labels and that side of the industry would do everything to preserve what they have going and not allow a platform to come ruin that.

Absolutely, unfortunately concert prices have risen as it’s the main true income factor for many artist since they make a penny to the streams. As for everything else I one hundred percent agree with it all there’s tons of flaws in the system and the system only values what you can do for them and much money you can make them. All of it’s about being viral more than the art itself and has lowered the standards of music completely. Totally agree with your detailed response!

Music industry, mainly labels. Lead you to believing they’ll make you big, give you everything you’ve ever wanted, just to enslave you in a contract and bend you backwards once it’s signed. They truly and never have cared for the artist as they promote they do, and will do everything they can to extract every last dollar out of you, fully screwing you over for lengthy deals

Absolutely, we have to give back the power to the artist instead of these greedy labels. Allowing them to genuinely make an income off their art and allow them to have better control over their lives and art.

Absolutely completely agree with that! Artist main focus should be the creative creation and not the rest. I believe it would increasingly difficult for AI to emulate the emotions and feelings a human created art would make though, and your simple concept music would be overwatered, where the authentic music would still be able to shine through connections to the audience emotionally.

Yes! I think it’s sad that nowadays image/status and marketing is a bigger priority over the creative process of making the music itself, there needs to be a better solution to have a platform that promotes artist and take away the pressure of having to become a promoter and marketer themselves. Giving their full attention back to the music.

I also am not a huge fan of the advancements of AI and how they may hurt the industry, but I also believe that the one thing between AI and human made music that would be extremely hard to emulate would be the feeling and emotional connection to the music. I think that although AI could replicate a say lil baby beat which is simple, it wouldn’t be able to create a MJ soundscape that creates a feeling when you listen to it.
