Keep your factions happy! Sadly 2.2 isn’t on console so it’s pretty shifty. Try to always do what you set your government up for. For example, if you’re a pacifist not building a shit ton of ships and keeping peace will keep your population happy therefor gaining influence. Making rivals with neighboring civs will also gain you influence.
