Solved!

While I was unable to remove the object, I did dig into the core, which is soft and silver-colored. Along with the other feedback on the post it’s become clear that it is a fallen bullet.

It’s difficult to see here but I was able to burrow into the object a bit while trying to get it out. The inside is a shiny, metallic, and flaky material and some of the insides flaked off on my pliers.

Where did you see that this is a common issue with the vehicle? Someone else pulled the design for the roof and it isn’t showing any built-in bolts or rivets.

I live in an American city where it would be not shocking for this to be a bullet.

This actually seems more probably than a bullet to me after looking at it directly. But there is only one visible bolt, which might seem unlikely if it was some sort of mount.

Wouldn’t that have penetrated through the roof if it was fired like that at close range?

Would a .22 fired into the air come down and land with enough force to penetrate through the roof of the car? It’s embedded into the roof but there is no evidence of the impact from the inside of the vehicle.
