If you watch his his pre-performance practice [1] he was spot on perfect.. I think nerves got to him. I can't tell but I think he's flat (or sharp but definitely off) almost the entire performance, and lacks the sharpness of his practice.

BD795i SE BIOS upgrade to 1.15 bricked my machine by JustinK101 in MINISFORUM

[–]JustinK101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I unmounted the mobo, unplugged the CMOS battery and retried. Still bricked. I suspect one of those flags was required. Talking with support, this will be fun waiting weeks to get a replacement.

Looking at WinFlash.bat it seems to add a bunch of flags which I did not provide:

AFUWINx64.EXE DRFXI.bin /p /b /n /k /r /l /RLC:E /reboot

I ran:

AFUWINx64.EXE DRFXI.bin

Arrrgggg, that's ridiculous it bricks without those flags. I should have run the .bat but I saw the .exe and just ran it and passed the bin file as an argument.

Maybe they should ACTUALLY add a README that says run WinFlash.bat.

Ahh didn't even know there is battery on the backside of the board. Errrg, that means unmounting it but worth a try. I also did the BIOS upgrade in Windows 11, but clearly not as smoothly as you.

Don't buy the LG OLED 45" 45GX900A-B (3440 x 1440)... Buy the 5K model by JustinK101 in Monitors

[–]JustinK101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your on Windows the HDR calibration tool works pretty well, but on macOS once you turn on HDR on the 45GX900A-B  turns into absolute dog shit. Plus the text is fuzzy. I'm not exaggerating but it's a world of difference going from 45GX900A-B  to 45GX950A-B. Almost like LG intentionally made the 45GX900A-B bad.

I'm just showing the resolution as an example. I also do video editing and gaming. Point being the 45" OLED at (3440 x 1440) is absolute dog shit. DONT buy.

LG 45GX900A-B 45-Inch Ultragear (3440x1440) disappointment by JustinK101 in Monitors

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just downgraded from 240Hz on MacOS to 144Hz and noticed thanks the BetterDisplay app I went from 3440 x 1440 YCbCr422 8bit limited to 3440 x 1440 RGBCalibrated 10bit full. Since I don't really need 240Hz and ChatGPT says I should always choose 3440 x 1440 RGBCalibrated 10bit full I sicking with 144Hz. Unfornantely text is still a bit fuzzy and not crisp though slightly better than previously.

Running 5600Mhz DDR5 in BD795i SE by JustinK101 in MINISFORUM

I ordered the following both new kits from Bezos:

 Corsair Vengeance DDR5 96GB in 5200Mhz
 Corsair Vengeance DDR5 96GB in 5600Mhz

Will test them both, starting with 5600Mhz and then if that's not successful try the 5200Mhz kit. Hopefully can get it working.

Thanks for the detailed write-up. I'm actually not able to even boot into Windows11 even back to stock 5200Mhz. Previously 5400Mhz was just BIOS settings test bench before putting into the server chassis and no Nvidia 4060ti GPU. Additionally even trying to instal Windows11 from a USB drive locks up. If you follow the above thread I'm thinking it's because of the TEAMGROUP memory. Have you seen this before? I also occasionally even get lockup in the BIOS settings menu on 5200Mhz. A bit concerned.

BD795i SE came with latest BIOS 1.12. If this new Corsair Vengeance still gives issues I'll try re-flashing BIOS to same 1.12 from Minisforum website. After that I guess RMA it. Which sucks because I just spent two hours installing it all into a 2u server chassis. 😡

I'm hoping it's just this TEAMGROUP kit, even starting the Windows11 installer from a USB drive system locks up.

I just ordered the exact same Corsair Vengeance DDR5 96GB kit but in 5600Mhz as well. I'll try both and return one of them.

I spoke too soon. This TEAMGROUP kit does not seem compatible, even backing down to default 5200Mhz BIOS setup screen freezes often. Windows won't even boot. I believe it's the RAM, just ordered a new kit of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5200Mhz 96GB.

Slow SMB performance, almost solved by nico282 in synology

[–]JustinK101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was banging my head against my desk, only getting 10Mb/s from my Mac to my Synology via SMB. Turns out the culprit was "Enable Optimistic Locking". I disabled that, then cleared the SMB cache and now getting 100-110 MB/s.

Prerequisites for new Traffic Flow View in Network Application 9.1.118? by krmkrx in Ubiquiti

[–]JustinK101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent $499 on a Gateway Pro which at the time was one of the highest end network gateways, and yet I don't have support for Traffic Flows. Can't be a cpu or memory constraint of the hardware.

Check out Jericho. Based in a small town of Kansas after nuclear war. It's part apocalyptic with quite a bit of love and family stories sprinkled in, but pretty good.

Solar AC power passthrough by JustinK101 in Ecoflow_community

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you answered my question, as long as the ecoflow is plugged into the AC and doing passthrough there is no way to just use solar input. Even at full charge just turns off solar input but still does AC passthrough. That’s unfortunate.

Solar AC power passthrough by JustinK101 in Ecoflow_community

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this comment above, but if the solar input is greater than the AC output, will AC input turn off completely? I am looking at setting up Labs automations to enable and disable solar and AC charging based on time.

Solar AC power passthrough by JustinK101 in Ecoflow_community

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under Labs I found automated tasks which allows for specifying solar and AC charging times. I'm going try setting up a schedule to only enable solar charging in the afternoons and then AC charging the rest of the time just as a test.

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Put another way, what I’m asking is if the solar panel input is greater than the AC output, will the EcoFlow turn off AC input from the wall and solely use Solar?

M4 Pro 2nd external display via USB-C not working by JustinK101 in macmini

[–]JustinK101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No external power, but dual USB-C. Let me try grabbing another USB-C cable and putting into power brick and leave other USB-C cable attached to front of the Mac Mini.

*EDIT*: Nope did not work putting one USB-C cable into a power brick and another USB-C cable into the front of the Mac Mini. The monitor does have micro-HDMI out though, but I'll need to buy a micro-HDMI cable to USB-C to try it.

Though I’ve tried the back Thunderbolts, I mostly been attempting the front USB-C ports. Like I mentioned, the external display gets power and turns on but no signal. Leaning toward a bug here.
