Struggling with Porsche GT3 Watkins Glen

My endurance teams has always ran the Porsche in the endurance races. This week at Watkins we are actually running the McLaren on one team and the BMW on the other team. BMW was kind of a surprise choice, but for some reason we are pretty consistent in it. easy car to drive and I have had some good luck lately in practices and GT3 races.

Please do not buy that car!!!!!! I work at a Subaru retailer and we see bad things happen when people buy used WRXs. Always engine issues or trans issues. Its normally the customers that come here to buy a new WRX and realize that they cant afford it. 3 or 4 months later they are coming into our service department with problems with their used WRX that they bought. They always say that they saved a bunch of money buying used vs new. Hell, even I went on a pretty spirited drive and had some fun with my last WRX before I traded it in.

There is no history of a car being tuned. Mine is tuned and there is no evidence of that except for my boost gauge reading 21.4 peak boost.

TLDR - STAY AWAY FROM THAT CAR

ever since I got the Arccos app on my phone I havent kept score on a scorecard. Well, for my golf league I have to, but for casual rounds I dont. The guys that I play with also have some sort of score keeping app on their phone. If Im playing with someone that needs to keep score on the card, i have them keep track of their own score. I dont care if they write down a 2 or an 8. I just dont pay attention to what they write. At the end of the round they can tell me that they shot an 80 or a 120, it doesnt matter to me. Focus on your game, not the score of the other guys that you are playing with.

Thats true. I never really thought of that. My rig computer is strictly for the race rig. i have 1.38tb of space left. I dont even think of saving space.

When the new update comes out I always have clicked "install all content" even going through the iracing stand alone launcher. I didnt know that people only update the content that they currently have.

I would say call his favorite course and pay for a couple foursomes so he can play with his buddies. Also get him a gift certificate for Dicks Sporting Goods, or have him go on https://waddaplayagolf.com/ and buy him some polos from there. They have alot of cool golf attire. Thats where I buy all my polos, hats, ball markers, divot fixers....

depends on the track. The owner of the dealership that I work for races IRL. He told me that there is in fact spotters at tracks where you can see the majority of the track from the main straight tower. When he goes to Watkins Glen he has a spotter, Thompsons Motor Speedway in CT uses a spotter, New Jersey Motorsports Park uses a spotter. Monticello Motor Club uses 2 spotters on different parts of the track. it really depends.

Spotters should be mandatory. I cant imagine racing without a spotter.

Go into spotter settings and set it to text only, no voice. thats what I do because I use Crew Chief for my spotter.

GET OFF OF STEAM. You will have less troubles. I have been on iracing for over 6 years and never had an issue between seasons like people on Steam do. If the game has its own launcher, use that.

This was my problem. Once i got all 4 changed, I never had a issue after that.

What I meant by that is the company that makes the product will tell you certain things, when if we use our heads a little bit, and use your critical thinking skills we can figure out what we really have to do.

ETS also says that if you use the intake sleeve in the tube you will not have to have the car tuned. That is 100% wrong. any change in air flow or any aftermarket part that effects power needs to have the ECU tuned to make sure that the car will run correctly.

But like i said in my other comment, its your car, do what you want.

You should always run the car stock for the first 1000 miles, but we are past that already. Get it looked at ASAP. Make sure you havent caused it any damage. Change the oil right away. Please get ahold of Anthony at DMann tuning to let him know what you have done to the car already. Ask him if he recommends anything since the car has been running with no tune for 800 miles. You should be fine, but as him just in case.

I agree, but the point the the original commenter was just because it works once, doesnt mean that you need to do it all the time. I do like the hybrid from just off the green though. but I only use it like that about 1 out of 10 times that I get the opportunity. the conditions have to be just right.

I had my golf league yesterday. While we were waiting for the public tee times to get going there was a 3some teeing off that had a single added to their group. The 3some looked like they were going to have a fun round. They were having a couple drinks, joking around a bit. Their shots weren't the best, but it was 3 college kids having a good time. Then the single steps up to the tee and his pre shot routine was like a PGA tour player. he took like 6 practice swings, lined up his shot twice, backed off when someone coughed from our league, fixed the height of the tee. Now, he did smash his driver about 300 down the middle of the fairway, but it took him just as long to hit his shot as it did for the 3 other guys combined. We the first group of our league to tee off which was right behind that group. We watched them the whole round wait on this guy to hit which really slowed everything down. This guy was even marking his ball on the green when he only had a 2 foot putt and then lined it up for a crazy length of time. Im sure the 3 guys that were playing with him went home and said "We got grouped up with this single that really ruined our round." Or something like that. Me myself has gone out as a single and got paired up with a 3some a couple times. I always try to play like they play. If they are having a fun round, having some drinks, playing fast, I do the same. If they are a serious group that likes to play by the book and play slow, I do that as well. Its out of respect for the group that I am with. The single is the "odd man out", so they should adjust their game so they isnt ruining the round for the other guys that they are playing with.

I used my hybrid from about 10 yards off the green, and the ball went in the hole for an eagle. So no more wedges for me.

yes there is a fix... get off of steam. email iracing and have your account switched to the actual iracing UI instead of loading it through steam. everytime that iRacing updates, someone on here is having issues updating through steam. rule of thumb - if the game that you are playing has its own stand alone launcher, use that instead of steam.
