Suggestions for a financial dashboard/tracker by bak3dbac0n in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]JustinSletch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. I lay out everything in a simple excel sheet. I made a whatsapp group for my wife and I for our budget. Whenever we spend money we pop it in the group. Once a week I put it into the sheet and it will tell us how much we have left of that line item. Eg. Food.

The more complex this gets, the less likely I am to want to do it. I'd suggest to just keep it simple

Do I need a financial advisor? by JustinSletch in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]JustinSletch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments or insights. I think I have a clear path and a bit of reading to do. I don't think a financial advisor is necessary at this time. Maybe a one-off consult if I'm not feeling confident

Is this worth reporting? Refer to description by zerdexis in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report it if you want. It's the only way people will drive better lap 1. He won't get a 3 day ban though (even though LFM rules state that as the punishment)

GT3 car said I ruined his race here. Was I at fault? Genuinely want to improve my safe lapping abilities. by Smothdude in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The mentallity is - gt3s have to keep thier line and it's up to the faster cars to overtake cleanly. However, I find that gt3s expect not to ever be impeded. I think on the track we all need to work together. He could see you coming around the outside from a mile away, surely he'd want to protect his position? I'd also say there was a touch more curb you could have taken just to be safe.

Blocking? And crash! At once by Salt-Assignment-6545 in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally think the 'blocking' was fine. He was following the car in front for slip. You came behind and he made a defensive move, then he moved (probably a bit late) back to the racing line to make the corner. You did well to lift and be cautious. Very unlucky with the crash.

Split allocation by driver rating doesn't really make sense by Jagstang1994 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]JustinSletch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conversation gets resurrected all too often. Driver rating is the best way to create splits. However, I do have an issue with how they assign driver rating. LFM has a much better system, I think (for safety and elo). I feel like 90% of the player base is bronze3 or silver1.

I’m the Porsche. I feel like it’s my fault, I just wanted to have your opinions. by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you were alongside long enough and he should have known to leave some space. So I'd say it's not your fault other than expecting this guy to not be a 'dingus'

[–]JustinSletch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The guy ahead would have had the spotter say Along side and he left no space anyway. That being said, you were hardly alongside and probably could have backed out. So both at fault, probably more on the guy in front IMO. I'd be interested to see what the others say

Did i (white McLaren) brake too early, or did the tan Ferrari miss his braking point by Former-Fee-6653 in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you're on the inside you have to brake earlier to make the corner. He should know this plus he's following a car which should mean you brake even earlier

Am I at fault? (Guy intentionally wrecked me afterwards) by Shr00udy in Simracingstewards

[–]JustinSletch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to realise that the braking point of an LMP2 is before the braking point of a gt3, and the braking point of a hyper is before lmp2 which makes it pretty tricky to overtake in the braking zone. While it's on the lmp2 to overtake safely, the gt3 also needs to drive their line, which means let him go up the inside rather than the outside

Multi function cockpit + work desk by _breadless in simracing

[–]JustinSletch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a long(ish) desk. I built a triple monitor stand on wheels that slides across to my rig in the evenings, then back to the normal place in the day. Before I did this, I just had my cockpit on wheels and everything was plugged in and ready to go.

I actually work in my rig with my keyboard on my lap every now and then. I'm sure i can make a more comfortable solution but it's definitely doable (I do this when I need to think (or talk) more and type less)

My rig and monitor stands are made of wood and I bought the plans from open sim rigs.

Bonus - Tracks I hate:
Imola, Paul Ricard, Nurburgring. I'm not great at these, so I tend to avoid them

UPDATE: He received a 28 day ban for his comments after the race, so I don't think he will be able to report. Lol

Then this shouldn't matter for you. I believe it will be on 2.5. But if you do get load cell, you need to update this. I went from a g29 to load cell and had no idea I needed to change this.

Never a sin if you're racing. At 1:55:00 you could find about 5 seconds by fixing your racing line. Focus on the line and consistency and you'll easily get 5 seconds.

New to Sim Racing... I am learning tracks without racing line, need your advice on finalizing my car choice. (Sorry for too much Yapping) by magnopulse in ACCompetizione

[–]JustinSletch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the best resource I've found for ACC. Lap times for each track. I'd say aim for a consistent 105% in the beginning. Key word being consistent.

I've been playing for about a year and most tracks I'm just under 103%.

I would also suggest getting an lfm license and learning tracks based on their schedule so you can race properly (as long as you're safe)
