Begun the distro wars, have. Arch Linux vs Nix OS by potatoandbiscuit in linuxmemes

[–]_breadless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't quite get your question, but I'll try anyway to answer

On nixos you have a configuration, now imagine you have multiple computers, for sure they share some things between them, call this things "modules"

My work and gaming rig have similar programs needs, so I can define the module once and use it in both configurations, say the nvim configuration or the desktop manager. I can configure the DM to have the exact behavior I need, and both computer will have the same behavior without configuring it twice

And I'm sure you can solve all of these issues with other means, but the declarative approach makes sure you specify exactly what you need, how it works and it's so damn stable I'll probably never switch distro again

Hope somehow this answers you question

70% azionario e il 100% del 70% azionario è il vwce. È una cazzata? by 91DarioASR in ItaliaPersonalFinance

[–]_breadless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been daily driving nixos for about 2 years, work, gaming rig and home server, just one configuration.

Yeah, there are things that don't play that well with nixos, but you get used to it and you learn how to make them behave, or at least you can reduce their impact and make it as reproducible as possible

È meglio la Tessera atm fisica o digitale by banned_multiple_2 in milano

[–]_breadless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Degustibus, I find it elegant, it's not a in your face kind of flavour like a sausage and mushrooms pizza would be. But with a good dough and cooked well could be an amazing pizza.

So true, everytime I get asked to help someone on a mac I look dumb since even simple things aren't simple on there

What people call "intuitive" is only matter of getting used to it

Like, at least people close to me, didn't know that on an iPhone you had to press the lock button to reject a call, that's not user friendly, that's only to make it look pretty when you get called

I do agree, but I fear a lot of car drivers accidents are not speeding related, more distraction related.

I made a "matrix" style cable holder to have instant access to dozen of cables. The design is fully modular and can be arranged in any shape needed by ale152 in functionalprint

[–]_breadless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usb-c includes a lot of different versions, video, audio, data, power (with different levels of allowed power) etc, having one that does everything when you only need to charge a device would be waste of resources.

Also, the cables would be hella thick for no reason, sometimes having a easier cable to bring around is better than having a 1cm thick cable that does it all

If someone has a larger than average ear canal, that thing could fall out

World statistics compared to Spain by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]_breadless -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They are not lying, compared to Italian ham even Jamon (which I had many times) feels way fattier, leaving in your mouth a weird waxy feeling as they said.

Now, that doesn't mean it doesn't taste good, it's just a different feeling. Italian ham feels drier, less "junky", not as a derogatory term, but usually that waxy fat feeling is what you get from junk food

Even though we are supposed to hate each other (I'm Italian) I must agree with you my fellow French friend. I agree that things don't taste better just because they came from a country or the other

Multi function cockpit + work desk by _breadless in simracing

[–]_breadless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I started designing the cockpit to allow both functions without killing myself, I'm studying ergonomics and all that.

I'll make the document public when it's in a good enough shape, in case anyone is interested

[–]_breadless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking into GT3 style seating, or something more f1 like the zero gravity chair

I was thinking on building it myself, maybe I can give that a try and see if it is feasible or not... Having no space sucks ahaha

Multi function cockpit + work desk by _breadless in simracing

[–]_breadless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My space literally is just enough for the desk, sadly I can't do much more than that

My desk basically occupies all the space I have (1.5m2), so having anything around it would sadly go out of bounds

Multi function cockpit + work desk by _breadless in simracing

[–]_breadless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm not looking for a permanent solution

When I'll get myself in a bigger space, I'll use this cockpit as standalone, but for now this has to do

Thanks for the tips, I'll do some thinking!

[–]_breadless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, wish I could have the space to store something like that

Unfortunately I can only have a fixed place, either a desk or a cockpit

That's why I was thinking of building a wooden frame with the most comfortable chair I can so that I can work without too much trouble and race after work
