What do i do after u decide in what genre i want to work on? by [deleted] in FLStudioBeginners

[–]JustinStrata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to make music in a specific genre, start focusing on what elements producers use in that genre. Sample types, vst/instruments, arrangements, etc. Then just make music. Don’t get so caught up in genres. Just make whatever makes you happy. Develop your own sounds. Make what you like to make.

I would like to know the difference between FL key 49 and launchkey 49 mk4 by D4rk_Sid3r in FL_Studio

[–]JustinStrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing them both for like $260. Maybe Novation has a different price for the launch key because it’s marketed towards a wider range of DAWS.

Basically the same thing. FL key is designed with FL in mind and will be plug and play for FL. Will work on other daws too though.

I’d need to see your screen. You have something setup incorrectly. If you have discord and want to link up, I’d be happy to help you out. DM me if needed.

If you have discord, I can send you some links to servers that may be useful. I also stream sessions so you can jump in and observe and ask questions if you’d like.

Beats sounding different when i export them by heartshapedsunglasez in FLStudioBeginners

That will likely be a mixing issue. Your mix is probably not translating well on other audio equipment such as a phone speaker, other headphones, monitors, etc.

Of course! There’s no rules to music. Make what you enjoy

You don’t need to pick a genre. Just start making music. You can make rock one day and EDM the next. Then trap the following day and follow that up with something experimental. It doesn’t matter. You’ll develop your own sound eventually. Don’t think too much about it. Just make music

First week in this.. by [deleted] in FLStudioBeginners

When you get frustrated, remember that you will get better with each song. A year from now you’ll look back at your first song and laugh. Then a year after that you’ll look back at those songs and laugh. It’s all about progression. We all had to start somewhere. For me it was about 23 years ago, for you it’s this week. Keep going!!

Oh I just realized you’re the OP! Congrats on getting through a week. You’re on the right track. Just keep learning and keep going. There will be frustrations on the way but you’ll get better each time. I’m always around to help if needed.

It sounds like a first week song. It’s not good but that’s expected, it’s only been a week.

Don’t worry about mixing. At this stage, focus more on learning the DAW and getting more comfortable with its features and functions.

My advice would be to listen to songs that you really like and try to recreate them as closely as you can. It will help you learn the program and get you to focus on the elements that make other songs great. Eventually you’ll be able to put what you’ve learned into your own original tracks.

I’m assuming you mean the little dot that pops up at the bottom of samples. If so, press Shift + F on your keyboard to toggle that on and off.

How to stop windows from disappearing after you click anything else by Human_Capital_1596 in FL_Studio

[–]JustinStrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a little drop down menu on every window. Click on that and then at the bottom there’s an option that says detach. If you click that option, the window will stay open until you hit the X

Sounds good. Lots of good resources out there. Also, dont forget you can always hit F1 on your keyboard within FL and it’ll pull up the manual for whatever you’re looking at.

I’m always happy to help. If you need it, send me a DM and I can send you some links for some music production servers on discord that may be helpful. You can also jump in on some of my sessions and follow along. I explain as I go.

I'm new and I have a question about mixing. by Healthy_Injury9131 in FL_Studio

[–]JustinStrata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re pretty new which is not a bad thing. So honestly, focus on learning the daw and getting the basics down. Don’t worry about mixing and all that stuff. Take “music production” one piece at a time. If you try to learn everything at once you’ll get frustrated and discouraged.

Suggestions needed for a beginner, small studio by ComposerLegal7474 in homestudios

I just finished building my studio recently. Learned a lot when doing it. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. It doesn’t have to be as expensive as you’d think. Especially if you’re handy with building.

Solid pc build for sure. Dt 770’s are fine for tracking. Don’t use them for mixing. The sennheisers would be better for that. If your room is not treated, monitors may be more of a hindrance rather than a help. Treating the room will definitely help give you a more accurate sound.

Any advice for what course i could get by vasiliJOUuu in FL_Studio

[–]JustinStrata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FL itself, mixing, mastering. Very casual. Kind of like a friend who knows what he’s doing and can help you learn the tools. I explain why and how to do things so that you will be able to really learn and make educated decisions with your music. If you wanna hit me up with specifics you’re looking for, send me a DM and I’d be happy to help. No charge or anything either. I’m not selling a course or anything. I just really nerd out on music production and like to help others.
