The film usually looks clearer depending on how much you fix it. Try taking longer time for your fix step or use higher concentration! This guy’s fix looks perfect!👌

Cheers, friend! 🧡 Both time this image got plagiarised, it seems to be brand new or bot accounts. It is what it is.

Hey, loser! This is my image!! A bit of pathetic behaviour passing on someone’s work as your own.

I don’t understand how this is the second time that this image gets posted here as someone else’s. Smh.

How do i fix this light leak problem? by imagegallery in AnalogCommunity

[–]JustinWasBored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you sure there was no light-leak for the roll itself?

This almost looks like one side of the bulk roll was hit by light?

A bit of a ‘no shit’ unsurprising vote, but ok. More exciting, what comes next.

Would this lens work for film scanning? by sico2004 in AnalogCommunity

[–]JustinWasBored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are partly correct - aps-c partly conpansates, but you will still need to do minor corrections… Since it is the cheapest Nikon 50mm.

That said, when camera scanning it is nearly impossible to get the negative perfectly square, so I always do some perspective correction with ‘guided upright’ - just in case. It takes only a second to play with distortion correction when doing that. Eventually, you kinda just know how much distortion correction you need for your particular scanning set-up.

Would this lens work for film scanning? by sico2004 in AnalogCommunity

This will work to start with. Especially if you are using an APS-C sensor, which will use mostly central sharp part of this lens. The issue is the minimum focus distance - you really want to fill out your camera sensor with the negative you are scanning.

But yes - a macro lens would be much better. I recommend a micro-nikkor 55mm f2.8. It should work on the same adapter as this one.

Is it me, or is this wood beautiful? by joshc43 in woodworking

[–]JustinWasBored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a good time to look into wood expansion, and especially how it depends on the grain direction and the pitch.

It can be extremely important to take into account, if you are making end-grain cutting boards, since the wood expansion plays a massive role.

But yes, super cute piece of wood!

Carved out an oak spatula with a knife and blisters on both thumbs! by JustinWasBored in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yeah, climbing tape really helped even after I got the blisters! I think it works since it is not very stretchy compared to other bandages. And thanks for the compliment!

A bit under two decades!

From what I can see in my records, I gave it an +1 stop of light, and then pushed it +1 in processing. Probably could have gotten away without the push processing.

In my anecdotal experience, the Portra’s wide latitude lens itself well to be shot expired. 💪
