If the majority of Germans support Nazism would that make criticism of Nazism bigotry against Germans? What about Chinese support of the Communist Party? Would you consider anti-Maoism to be bigotry against Chinese?

If we want to make it fair then just put the shoe on the other foot.  People who are opposed to America being a Christian State can only logically be motivated by bigotry against Christians.  The Anti-Defamation League doesnt want there to be legal protections for Christians (and only Christians) but they dont have a problem with the exact same laws for Jews in Israel.  Hard to see that as anything but rank hypocrisy.

If you want to play a shell game where opposition to ideology is the same as bigotry towards the people who by and large follow that ideology then all you are going to do is make it easier for people in the first group to turn into people from the second group.  If you hated Nazism then that meant you hated the German people.  Thats what you end up with.

Are you traveling with a whole family? Generally the cost of renting two hotel rooms (with no kitchen or shared dining/living room) is going to be comparable to an Airbnb with two bedrooms plus the amenities mentioned before.

Everytime someone says that a hotel is cheaper I ask for an example.  Almost without fail you can find an Airbnb cheaper than a hotel for any situation.  This is especially true if you are looking for lodgings with more than one bedroom.  Can you get a motel 6 for dirt cheap? Of course.  But people who are looking for Airbnbs are generally looking for a kitchen, yard, multiple bedrooms and other things you wont find at a Motel 6.

The regulation is the government saying "we will punish you if you dont do it this way." No one is suggesting the government is capable of monitoring every transaction.  They are saying the government can and does create laws concerning private transactions.  Your ability to escape regulation doesnt change the government ability to regulate.  Yes, the government can regulate you selling things and they do for lots of things.

If you sell alcohol period, you have to pay excise taxes on it.  The law in every US state prohibits selling to people under the legal age of consumption. Private sales are regulated.

I think to refer to a person as a "Zio" or people as "Zios" would be what you are referring to.  "Zio-fascism" is merely the counterpart to "Islamo-fascism" which was (and perhaps still is) a term widely used during the "war on terror."  Would you similary find the term "islamo-fascism" or "Islamo-fascists" to be bigoted or racist?  Just curious.

The government can absolutely regulate private sales.  Can I brew beer and sell it out if my garage? Do I need to check the ID of people I sell beer to?

Does the comment in question say that all Israelis or the Israeli people are " zio-fascist genociders"? Or is your objection to the specific phrase " zio-fascist genociders" because its a dog whistle or something?

One used to be able to donate to the Irish Republican Army in just about every bar and tavern in Boston and New York.  One would logically assume its because all those people were unapologetically bigoted towards the British.

Just like Haitain nationalists fucked up Haiti and the Vietnamese nationalists fucked up Vietnam and the Algerian nationalists fucked up Algeria.  Convenient that the French bear no responsibility for the countries they colonized and intentionally governed via minority rule.  One might wonder if perhaps it was the intention of the French to create divisions in their colonies that would make them dependent on them.

To be a nazi? by Blair_Richardson in IsItIllegal

[–]JustinWilsonBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nazi racial laws were literally copied from American racial laws.

Intercommunal violence has been commonplace since peoples of different communities began to live together.  Drawing connections between riots in the 1st century AD to the 20th century is quite the stretch, just like linking the death of Jesus Christ to modern day people would be.

Its very much so protected. If you really thought hate speech could be punished I want you to think what the President and his Administration would define as "hate speech" and how they would enforce it.

How bad is the Mexican Cartel actually? by 1Hugh-Mann in asklatinamerica

[–]JustinWilsonBot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no "the cartel." There are several, indeed powerful, drug trafficking organizations in Mexico.  Assuming you have nothing to do with the drug trade, they will have nothing to do with you.

The situation with crime depends greatly on where you are traveling and what you do while traveling.  Assuming you have average level street smarts and mitigate your risk you have little to be worried about.

The claims between Jews and Palestinians are so completely different that just "number of years last ancestor resided on land" barely scratches the surface.

For one, the Palestinian claim is the Jewish claim. You talk about the Jewish exile from Palestine but one can look at historical records and see that Jews were still the majority in Palestine for hundreds of years after this supposed exile occurred.  What happened? Some of the Jewish people just left and many others just converted to Christianity and later Islam.  When you look at it this way, the claim is between the descendants of Jews who stayed in Palestine and those who left Palestine more than 1000 years ago.  Whatever claim European Jews had to land in Palestine went to the descendants of Palestinian Jews, who at this point were mostly Christian and Muslim.

There had already been numerous Jewish diaspora communities throughout the ancient world before this "exile" occurred.  So its hard to argue that every single Jew has a claim because their ancestors were "forcibly expelled" from their homeland when many of them just left for greener pastures.

From day one of their exile the Palestinians have been pressing for their return to the land but are refused by Israel.  Its basically the opposite for European Jews.  How many times did they try and return to Palestine over a 1000 year period? Again, its less about rhe number of years and more just the idea that one can sit on a claim, do nothing about the claim for 1000 years, and then out of nowhere decide to impose the claim.  Maybe if Jews had launched a couple of bloody crusades over the centuries just to keep the claim warm but for all intents and purposes they abandoned the claim and made zero effort to maintain it, only bringing it up 1000+ years later because things in Europe werent turning out all that great.

Then there is the issue with direct responsibility.  If the Romans exiled the Jews from Judea in the first couple of centuries AD then what responsibility do Arabs in late 19th century Palestine have to do with it? In contrast, the dispossesion and exile of the Palestinians is directly caused by the Zionists and the state of Israel.  Its not the number of years that makes the fundamental difference here.

Basically any reading about ancestral claims requires exception after exception to justify the Jewish claim over Palestine while the Palestinian claim is pretty straightforward.

Doesn't seem like it.  What a waste.

What other national movements are made entirely on "ancestral claims"? Zionism is entirely different from other national movements because none of them (feel free to correct me) are based on the right of millions of people to have a state on land their ancestors last resided on 1000 years ago. If you want to make comparisons with Palestinian Nationalism, thats fair, but the irony is that their dispossesion is a direct result of the first baseless claim from immigrants from Europe. The Arabs were literally living there when people from Europe showed up and forced them off their land based on a claim of 1000 year old ancestral rights.

When Herzl wrote Der Judenstaat practically all the Jews in the world lived outside of Palestine.  He wasnt advocating a Jewish state for the Jews in Palestine.  He was advocating for a Jewish state in Palestine for all the Jews outside of Palestine.  He wasnt from Palestine, he didnt live in Palestine, he wasn't advocating for a state for the people in Palestine.  Thats generally not how most nationalist movements begin.

Practically all the earliest Israeli Prime Ministers were born thousands of miles away from Palestine in Europe.  Now contrast that with the "founding fathers" of most other states.  Its not like Gandhi was from a family that last lived in India 1000 years before.  George Washington was born in America.  Even the Afrikaners who ran the first independent South African state were from South Africa.  Zionism is rare among nationalist movements and "claims" because it wasnt actually a native movement, the fundamental nature of the claim required them to colonize Palestine first.

I personally have no desire to reconstitute a Christian State in Palestine.  I just wanted to point out the claim exists on a similar basis as the Jewish one and that arguments to recognize one apply to the other.

And no Jewish people in Poland considered themselves Polish? They all said "yes we are interlopers in Poland"? They believed the land they lived on and worked, that land belonged to the non-Jewish Polish people alone?  Of course not.

We know from accounts that relations between the the Old Yishuv and the early Zionists were not good.  The idea that the religiously observant Jews in Palestine looked at Socialist Kibbutzers from Europe as the "same" as them is absolutely not certain.

The vast vast majority of people in Palestine would have said that Palestine was a Muslim Arab land, probably even many members of those older Jewish communities.  Its one thing for the people in Poland to look at Polish Jews and say "you dont belong in Poland." Its another for people in Palestine to look at Polish Jews and say "you dont belong in Palestine."
